Job Summary:


The Department of Orthopedics has an open position for a mid-career scientist with an interest in basic and/or translational research related to musculoskeletal disorders.  The successful candidate will be expected to continue an independent research program with their current grant funding and with a future of sustainable funding potential and programmatic growth within the department.  To fit programmatic vision, the ideal applicant will have expertise in musculoskeletal developmental biology.  A broad range of musculoskeletal research activities is acceptable provided there is an emphasis on eventual clinical applicability/translation of research. 


Chosen Candidate will be provided with the following resources:



  • Strong support and collaboration from orthopedic clinical faculty.


  • Competitive package to establish a lab in the Research Division.


  • Dedicated wet bench laboratory space.


  • Access to 2 vivarium facilities which include zebrafish, rodent, and large animal support.

  • Several intradepartmental core facilities that provide technical support and infrastructure to advance research. 



Key Responsibilities:



  • Actively submit grant applications and obtain substantial extramural research funds.

  • Collaboration with Orthopedic faculty.

  • Attend monthly faculty meetings, 2x per month Grand Rounds, an Annual Faculty Retreat, and various Research Division meetings and activities.

  • Participate in department and institutional committees.

  • Give 2-3 lectures per year to residents and other CU students/trainees.

  • Mentor trainees and junior faculty. 



Work Location:



Onsite - this role is expected to work onsite and is located in Aurora, CO.

    Qualifications:



    Minimum Qualifications:
     



    Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.
     



    • PhD, DVM, MD or DO from an accredited institution.

    • Proven track record of high impact publications and research funding. 

    • Must be eligible to submit applications to NIH, NSF, DOD, and other federal funding agencies. 



    Preferred Qualifications:



    • Consistent track record of federal funding for research.

    • Experience mentoring trainees and junior faculty.

    • Ability to join the University with current research funds.

    Anticipated Pay Range:


    The starting salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established as HIRING RANGE:


    $140,000 - $150,000 


    The above salary range (or hiring range) represents the University’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. This position is not eligible for overtime compensation unless it is non-exempt.
