Pay Grade/Pay Range: Minimum: $53,500 - Midpoint: $66,900 (Salaried E8)



Department/Organization: 224107 - YSI-Contracts



Normal Work Schedule: Schedule varies based on needs

Job Summary: The Staff Therapist II provides clinical services to clients. Completes client assessments. Performs case management and documentation duties. Serves as a liaison among stakeholders.



Additional Department Summary: Provides clinical services to children and youth with problematic or illegal sexual behaviors and their families. Conducts risk assessments. Helps formulate and implement individualized treatment plans. Provides services to the youth within a community context. Coordinates work with the local juvenile court and its probation services. Works collaterally with the probation service, probation officer, and other team members in carrying out services to the juvenile offender within court mandates and procedures. Serves Madison, Limestone, Morgan, Marshall, and other areas of the program's service area, based upon program needs. Serves clients in Alabama Department of Youth Services' custody in residential facilities upon request. Assists with community education and training initiatives, assists in program development opportunities.



Required Minimum Qualifications: Master's degree or higher in Counseling, Psychology, or Social Work and two (2) years of experience in consultation services, group therapy, teaching, outreach, student work, or case management. Licensure in the state of Alabama at the level of an independent practitioner.



Additional Required Department Minimum Qualifications: Must have valid U.S. driver's license. Must be at least 19 years of age at time of hire and have an acceptable Motor Vehicle Report that is in compliance with University policies. Applicants under the age of 21 will have some driving restrictions.



Skills and Knowledge: Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Consultation skills. Ability to present verbal testimony in juvenile court hearings. Excellent interpersonal and problem-solving skills, including the ability to develop therapeutic alliances with the treatment team and other persons engaged with the youth. Ability to complete documentation of services and other reports in a timely manner. Word processing and other computer skills.



Preferred Qualifications: Three (3) years of experience with clinical populations of children, adolescents, and court-involved youth. Demonstrated competence in working with problematic sexual behaviors. Clinical abilities including conducting intake interviews, completing assessments of offenders and their families, completing individualized treatment plans, and individual, group, and family support/therapy. Knowledge of and ability to use cognitive-behavioral interventions used in the treatment of youth.
