We are currently looking for a Trackwork Technician to join our team in Knoxville, Tennessee.

PURPOSE OF POSITION

A shop employee that performs all duties and tasks associated with the assembly of frogs and crossings.

Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Finish grind, weld, fit and assemble all steel, iron and manganese track work related products to the specifications provided by engineering.
  • Profile grind filler blocks, fit standard and mag tip switch points and other miscellaneous track work related products such as switch clip assemblies.
  • Using work orders, ITP’s and blue prints.
  • Assemble RMB, SGM, MPF, spring frogs and diamond crossings.
  • Routine clean-up of work area.
  • Adhere to Nortrak’s Environmental, Safety and Quality Procedures, Practices and Policies.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Physical Demands:

  • Prolonged periods of standing, walking, stooping, kneeling, crouching or climbing.
  • Use hands to handle or feel objects, tools or controls, and reach with hands and arms.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
  • Regularly lift and move up to 20-25 pounds, occasionally lift and move up to 50 pounds.
  • Hearing abilities related to job assigned.

Job Requirements (e.g. education, experience, skills and desired competencies)

  • High School graduate or GED preferred but not required.
  • Forklift and Crane certification preferred (will be certified in house if needed).
  • Ability to read work orders, ITP’s, blueprints, rulers and tape measures.
  • Basic mathematical calculation experience in adding and subtracting whole numbers, fractions and decimals.
  • Experience in Railroad Industry is a plus but not required.
