Job Description:

Our client, a leading player in the legal industry, is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Assistant Controller to join their dynamic finance team. The Assistant Controller will play a key role in supporting the financial operations, ensuring accuracy and compliance, and providing insights for strategic decision-making.



Key Responsibilities:


  • Assist the Controller in overseeing the company's financial operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, and payroll functions.

  • Prepare and review financial statements to ensure accuracy and compliance with GAAP and company policies.

  • Conduct monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes, ensuring deadlines are met and financial data is properly reconciled.

  • Lead the preparation of budgets, forecasts, and financial analysis to provide actionable insights to management.

  • Monitor internal controls, suggest improvements, and ensure compliance with financial policies and regulations.

  • Manage and mentor junior accounting staff, fostering professional development and growth.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support financial planning and analysis.

  • Assist in audits (internal and external), providing necessary documentation and supporting information.

  • Handle special financial projects and ad hoc reporting as requested by senior management.


Qualifications:


  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA or CMA certification is preferred.

  • 5+ years of progressive experience in accounting or finance, with a minimum of 2 years in a supervisory role.

  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and accounting principles.

  • Experience with financial reporting, budgeting, and forecasting.

  • Advanced Excel skills and proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, NetSuite, or similar).

  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.

  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

  • Prior experience in the service industry is a plus.
