P
OSITION SUMMARY



1. Escorts patients to rooms, takes and records accurate history and vitals. Promptly reports changes or abnormalities to clinician.


2. Assists clinician with examinations, assists with procedures as requested.


3. Cleans exam rooms and maintains equipment by proper cleaning and care. Keeps exam rooms properly stocked with medical supplies, laboratory supplies, forms, and other materials needed.


4. Triages phone calls, documents information from patients via telephone, and translates information to physicians for response. Places return calls as directed by physicians.


5. Calls pharmacies to refill prescriptions under the direction of a physician/practitioner.


6. Assists individuals who have difficulty in moving or walking safely using appropriate body mechanics


7. Performs lab procedures with competence and adherence to protocol for quality control and actual testing. Provides appropriate instruction on specimen collection to patient.


8. Explains procedures to patients, answers questions appropriately or refers the person to the appropriate team member.


9. Complies with established departmental policies for attendance, punctuality, procedures,and safety. Complies with organizational policies and procedures.


10. Recognizes and responds appropriately to emergency situations.


11. Inspect medication samples to ensure they are not expired.


12. Reports complaints, problems and resolutions of problems regarding patients, team


members, visitors, etc. to the Practice Administrator.


13. Maintain equipment logs for calibration and quality control.


14. Performs other clinical functions as delegated and supervised by the physician.


15. Other duties as assigned.

Located at 227 Gateway drive Suite J, Bel air Maryland in the heart of Harford County, our practice provides improved access to Pulmonary Care and Sleep Medicine services. We offer a variety of sewrvices from mconsultaions to sleep and PFT testing.


Qualifications

OSITION REQUIREMENTS:


A high school diploma or equivalent is required. Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) through the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA) is preferred. Must have either one (1) year of previous related experience or have graduated from an accredited program within the last 12 months. BLS is also required.



Work Orientation & Experience
: Previous work experience is preferred.



Skills & Abilities: Good customer service skills. Work requires the ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions generally acquired through a high school education and medical assistant programming. Heavy lifting and the ability to transport stretcher and wheelchair patients may be required. Working knowledge of sterile techniques and special procedures that are applicable to work performed. Working knowledge of procedures and techniques involved in administering routine and special treatments to patients. Working knowledge of sanitation, personal hygiene and basic health and safety precautions applicable for work in a clinic setting. Working knowledge of infection control procedures and safety precautions. Age specific competencies. Daily clinic preparation process; registration, scheduling, charge posting, order entry. Able to document and communicate pertinent information. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients and clinic staff.
