Summary: Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, the Maintenance Supervisor is responsible to support plant functions, equipment, systems, and utilities to ensure their proper operation and maintenance.  

Responsibilities


  • Focus on safety and equipment reliability.

  • Responsible for the maintenance of machinery and equipment within the facility.

  • Supervision and direction of the Maintenance team.

  • Analytically resolve mechanical & electrical malfunctions back to OEM Specifications.

  • Working to improve quality, runtime, and throughput from systems/equipment.

  • Partner with Operations to develop efficient preventative maintenance schedule.

  • Assure compliance with all company policies, to include proper PPE requirements.

  • Document and keep current basic work instructions, policies, procedures, or other directional material.

  • Assign work to the Maintenance Technicians based on PM schedules and priorities as requested.

  • Submit requisitions for supplies as needed when necessary.

  • Perform maintenance task as needed.

  • Assist the Maintenance Technicians to ensure that quality and workmanship standards are met and continuously improved by assisting them on the floor throughout the shift

  • Provide prints, documentation and instructions as required by the Maintenance Technicians and verify that the work performed meets the specifications

  • Ensure that plant safety requirements and schedules are followed and that the required safety equipment is available and used by all personnel in the shop

  • Provide training, guidance, and leadership with a long-term plan for maintenance personnel development

  • Adjust machines and equipment as required using test and measurement instruments.

  • Diagnose machine operating to detect process problems or machine malfunctions

  • Provide daily inspection of safety and related equipment as required

  • Support capital projects.

  • Other duties as required and assigned     

Expectations


  • Time management; office and administration 15%, meetings 10%, shop and production floor engagement 70%.

  • Monitors Work Request / Work Orders in the system.

  • Creates Reports for Planning meetings.

    • List of items not completed from the previous week.

    • List of scheduled work for the week.



  • Scopes all jobs for a detailed list of parts needed. 

  • Enters Parts Request for non-inventory parts.

  • Assigns employee names to Work Orders and enters an estimated time. Assigns parts from the storeroom to Planned Work Orders. 

  • Kit parts for jobs.

  • Ensures all parts on Work Orders are checked out correctly. 

  • Creates Work Orders from PMs. 

  • Generates and adds PM’s and PdM Work Orders to the schedule.

  • Reviews all completed Work Orders for updating BOM list if parts change.

  • Reschedules all work orders that are not satisfactory.

  • Reschedules work that was not complete from the schedule.

  • Properly closes all completed work orders.

    • Enters all comments.

    • Records all labor hours.



  • Monitors the system for overdue Work Orders.

Education and Certifications


  • Excellent working knowledge of Industrial Maintenance, math, electronics, computers, and ergonomics.

  • Knowledge of plastic processing preferred.

  • Strong understanding of drives, PLC’s, and mechanical systems.

  • Ability to interact with vendors and contractors.

  • Understanding of process improvements.

  • Six sigma skills preferred.

  • At least 10 years as a Maintenance Mechanic or within an industrial facility preferred.

  • Solid knowledge of computer-based software and tools.

  • Ability to work in an ever-changing work environment.

  • Strong project management skills.

  • Good understanding of basic machinery.

  • Good mechanical & electrical aptitude.

  • Good communication & collaboration skills.

  • Programming skills with Allen Bradley/SDS Parker/Siemens systems preferred.

  • Ability to develop maintenance personnel and skills

 Physical 


  • Ability to lift at least 50 lbs. periodically

  • Ability to stand for long periods of time 

  • Ability to use both arms and hands

  • Ability to bend and stoop frequently

  • Frequently exposed to light manufacturing conditions and extreme temperature
