Job Description:

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

• Performs preparation and related technological processes in accordance with instructions from the Supervisor, Process Engineer and lead operator.
• Prime duties include can include etching, lapping, polishing, cleaning, mounting, loading furnaces, reporting, and data entry.
• Maintains accurate log of process parameters and entering into the data base, as instructed by the Production Supervisor.
• Precise record keeping and timely report out of the performance of the process.
• Adapts readily to changes in work caused by new requirements and/or situations.
• Effectiveness: Deals well with differences of opinion, manner and style; Seeks ideas from others; Pursues simple solutions to everyday problems.
• Special projects as assigned and directed by management.
• Supports Process Engineering ensuring projects and special assignments are carried out in a timely fashion according to special instructions.

Education & Experience

• High school graduate. College level courses in math, physics, metrology, chemistry, or computer literacy are a plus.
• 1 - 3 years of mechanical/electrical/chemical trades experience.
• Manufacturing Experience is Preferred.
• Experience with problem analysis and resolution
• Demonstrated ability to achieve results independently or working with others
• Ability to recommend and implement improvements
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
• Experience with networked PC based computer system (MS Office, spreadsheets, access, graphics, Email, MRP systems, and accounting software
• Must be technically inclined with good mechanical skills.
• Must have the aptitude to make decisions that affect downstream process quality.

• Must be able to work 12 Hour Shifts, evenings, and weekends as a part of normal work schedule.

The operator prepares raw materials, mounting seeds, and other components for Seed Preparation Process. Responsible for preparing glue, mounting seeds, curing seed assemblies, operating high temperature furnaces, running lapping and polishing systems, etching processes, cleaning wafers with ultrasonic tools, and cleaning all workspaces related to their daily operations. It is also the responsibility of the operator to digitally record information and data generated from these processes into controlled forms and webpages administered by Coherent. The operator supports the scale-up of Seed Preparation capabilities and contributes to continuous improvement efforts to keep pace with increasing production levels.
