A Day in the Life
This position will be based out of Medtronic's campus in North Haven, CT and reports to the Senior Engineering Manager, General Surgical Technology RPE. The R-D Engineer II will work on RPE projects for the General Surgical Portfolio and collaborate with cross-functional partners to ensure maintenance of design intent and deliver successful design changes for existing products.

Outstanding project management and verbal communication skills are critical to success in this role, as is the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment. You will work closely with cross functional engineering teams from various global manufacturing sites to assess, plan and execute projects that enhance our general surgery products. Collaboration skills are essential in ensuring successful interaction with PMO, manufacturing, marketing, and quality groups to meet timelines and business needs. This person will have practical technical knowledge and demonstrated competence obtained through advanced education combined with relevant experience.

  • Designs, develops, analyzes, troubleshoots and provides technical skills during research and/or product development.

  • Designs studies to investigate specific life science questions within field of expertise.

  • May be involved in product research and development and/or clinical trials.

  • Translates research discoveries into usable and marketable products.

TECHNICAL SPECIALIST CAREER STREAM: An individual contributor with responsibility in our technical functions to advance existing technology or introduce new technology and therapies. Formulates, delivers and/or manages projects assigned and works with other stakeholders to achieve desired results. May act as a mentor to colleagues or may direct the work of other lower level professionals. The majority of time is spent delivering R&D, systems or initiatives related to new technologies or therapies - from design to implementation - while adhering to policies, using specialized knowledge and skills.

Required Knowledge and Experience: Requires practical knowledge and demonstrated competence within job area typically obtained through advanced education combined with experience.
Requires a Baccalaureate degree (or for degrees earned outside of the United States, a degree which satisfies the requirements of 8 C.F.R. • 214.2(h)( 4)(iii)(A) and minimum of 2 years of relevant experience, or advanced degree with 0 years of experience.

Salary ranges for U.S (excl. PR) locations (USD):$80,000.00 - $120,000.00

This position is eligible for a short-term incentive called the Medtronic Incentive Plan (MIP).

The base salary range is applicable across the United States, excluding Puerto Rico and specific locations in California. The offered rate complies with federal and local regulations and may vary based on factors such as experience, certification/education, market conditions, and location. Compensation and benefits information pertains solely to candidates hired within the United States (local market compensation and benefits will apply for others).
