Overview

  • Management of lab inventory and equipment.
  • Management of SOPs, IACUC protocols, and lab compliance and training records.
  • Perform complete assay of auditory function in both awake (middle ear muscle reflex, distortion product otoacoustic emissions) and anesthetized (envelope following response, auditory brainstem response, distortion product otoacoustic emissions) mice.
  • Assist with survival surgeries (implanting a headplate and/or middle ear surgery).
  • Dissection of cochlear tissue, immunolabeling, and confocal microscopy.
  • Train new laboratory personnel on techniques.
  • Animal husbandry.


Responsibilities

  • Master's Degree in relevant field AND 3 years of relevant experience OR
  • Bachelor's Degree in relevant field AND 5 years of relevant experience
  • 3 year of experience with Master’s Degree
  • 5 years of experience with a Bachelor’s Degree
  • Previous experience managing a laboratory, including preparing SOPs, IACUC protocols, and handling lab compliance issues.
  • Experience with performing auditory assays including middle ear muscle reflex, auditory brainstem responses, distortion product otoacoustic emissions, and envelope following responses.
  • Experience with cochlear whole-mount dissections and immunolabeling.
  • Training of new laboratory staff and students.
