JOB SUMMARY:
Performs as the conduit between the Small Business Lending Administration and the Bank. Stays current on all programs that can assist Bank clients and the Bank in the growth of small business lending in all markets. In collaboration with the Senior Market Lender, leads the bank strategy around small business lending growth and using SBA to improve CRA effectiveness.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
* Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business or Accounting preferred
* Four+ years’ experience in SBA Lending
* Five+ years’ commercial lending experience
QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS REQUIRED:
* Thorough understanding of SBA programs and how to work with the government SBA department
* Strong presentation skills
* Strong Credit Skills
* Good computer skills with a working knowledge of Word, Excel, and an ability to learn all lending and other related software programs/systems.
* Maintain a valid driver’s license
* Strong written and verbal communication skills
* Able to work independently, multi-task, prioritize, manage time, develop new business, analyze credit, approve loans, solve problems and negotiate
* Working knowledge of CRA regulations and how small business banking can help the bank’s CRA standing
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Supervisory duties to include interviewing and selection, training and development, delegating responsibilities, monitoring work flow, ensuring quality control, monitoring and tracking employee performance, completing performance appraisals, coaching and counseling, administering progressive discipline and ensuring compliance to bank policies and procedures.
2. Regularly collaborates with lenders, Market Presidents, Treasury Management, CRA Managers, correspondent banks and others.
3. Collaborates regularly with CRA officers bankwide to identify opportunities to improve our CRA effectiveness.
4. Facilitates meetings with customers, prospects, COI’s, correspondent banks, loan committess and Bank leadership as needed.
5. Provides monthly follow up reporting to all Market Presidents and Manager.
6. Assists lenders, Branch Managers and correspondent banks with SBA opportunities.
7. Assists and advises all levels of lenders on winning loan structures to effectively protect the Bank and assist customers with growth.
8. Provides ongoing training meetings with lenders across the entire footprint to educate lenders on benefits of SBA products to the Bank and to the client.
9. Receives and processes loan requests.
10. Evaluates financial statements and other financial information.
11. Effectively structures loans with respect to rate, term and collateral to remain competitive while maximizing profit and maintaining high credit quality.
12. Maintains an active prospect base for solicitation purposes in order to expand the existing loan and deposit base.
13. Actively participates in joint calling acrossed the footprint as SBA lending and/or deposit opportunities are identified.
14. Follows up on qualified referrals from the banking centers or other referral sources and generates qualified referrals to other Bank departments/ branches to meet integration goals.
15. Represents the Bank on various civic boards and in community activities. Makes presentations to schools and civic groups on lending-related topics. Participates in bank programs for college interns, shadowing, etc.
16. Establishes and maintains relationships with Central Bank’s correspondent banks to generate SBA loan opportunities for them and to generate fees for the Bank.
17. Performs other duties as assigned.
