JOB SUMMARY

The Coach is an integral part of the MST-EA (Multisystemic Therapy for Emerging Adults) treatment team and provides support to emerging adults (ages 17 to 26) within the community. The Coach is a vocational “coach” who supports emerging adults receiving MST-EA treatment in learning and practicing new skills. The Coach delivers transitional curriculum-based skill building each week, covering a range of domains such as: Health & safety, Goals & values, Education, Housing, and Money management. In addition, the coach engages emerging adults in recreation or other enjoyable activities each week during which they model problem solving and communication skills. The Coach maintains professional communication, verbal and written, with internal and external team members to ensure an ardent team approach as well as the accomplishment of client goals.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Engage young adults in skills training activities twice a week. Skills training areas are directly

related to the goals of the client's treatment plan, and may include behavior management skills,

communication skills, coping skills, problem solving, educational, or vocational skills.

2. Engage clients in recreational activities each week.

3. Conduct role-plays and practice new skills with clients.

4. Deliver incentives to reinforce clients for positive behavior and new skills learned.

5. Follow modules from the Coach binders developed by the MST-EA Consultant.

6. Focus and build on clients’ positive attributes.

7. Engage the social network in supporting clients.

8. Connect emerging adults to community resources such as educational programming, vocational

training, and job placement.

9. Conduct outreach in the community to identify appropriate resources for emerging adult

population.

10. Transport clients to and from appointments and activities.

11. Follow directives by the MST-EA Therapist and Supervisor.

12. Provide documentation of each visit with clients.

13. Provide weekly oral and/or written reports to the MST-EA Supervisor on activities completed

with clients.

14. Participate in supervision with the MST-EA Supervisor.

15. Attend all required trainings in accordance with agency and model requirements.

16. Participate in all meetings as required by the MST-EA program and agency.

17. Perform all duties in accordance with the agency’s policies and procedures.

Experience and Skills

EDUCATION

  • High School diploma or equivalent required; college or university a plus.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum of two years of consistent employment or two years of college completion.
  • Experience working with the population preferred.
  • Must have a clean and valid driver’s license, three consecutive years of driving experience and be able to provide transportation.
  • Must be flexible and able to work independently in the community.
  • Ability to work flexible hours and engage in statewide travel.
  • Basic computer skills – MS Word, Outlook preferred
  • Excellent communication skills – verbal and written.
