Description:


The Department of Neurology at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania seeks candidates for a Full Professor position in the tenure track. Applicants must have an M.D or M.D./Ph.D. degree. Board Certification in Neurology.


Teaching responsibilities may include teaching medical students, neurology residents, neurology fellows, and graduate students.


Clinical responsibilities may include outpatient and inpatient consultations, workup, diagnosis, and treatment of genetically caused neurological disorders.


Research or scholarship responsibilities may include developing collaborative research programs related to human genetics; co-supervision of postdoctoral fellows, students, and research staff; coordinating NIH-funded grant efforts with local, national, and international collaborators; and participation in writing grants, reports, and manuscripts.


As the Director of the Penn Neurogenetics Therapy Center, the candidate will work with a large team of neurologists and genetic counselors to achieve a precise, genetically confirmed diagnosis for adult patients seen at Penn, and lead a team that performs early-stage clinical trials of therapies designed to affect gene expression as treatments for neurological disorders. These activities encompass the rich and diverse landscape of research and clinical activities related to human gene therapy at the Perelman School of Medicine and the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia.
