Packaging Supervisor

As the Packaging Supervisor, you will contribute to CAVA's success by coordinating team members and packaging activities and monitoring procedures and standards to achieve consistent high-quality products produced in an efficient manner. Our ideal candidate is self-motivated, highly organized and a natural leader.


What you'll do:


  • Supervise warehouse team and departmental processes during the assigned shift. Coordinate and delegate daily tasks as required by production schedule. Address minor issues as they arise and work with production manager to resolve.

  • Effectively translate and execute daily work orders to properly package hummus, blended dips and sauces into retail containers and bulk bags.

  • Audit product and packaging quality on a daily basis and communicate deviations to the production and quality manager in a timely manner.

  • Maintain food safety and quality by ensuring Good Manufacturing Practices and sanitation procedures are followed. Master and train team members on the cleaning and sanitizing of all equipment and surfaces (food contact and non-food contact) necessary to achieve food safety and quality goals.

  • Demonstrate and effectively communicate to team members the setup, operation, safety protocols, cleaning requirements and basic maintenance of packaging equipment including (but not limited to): inline cup filler, bulk bag filling and sauce bottling equipment, product transfer equipment, conveyors, labeling equipment, and material handling equipment.

  • Review and verify all departmental documentation (food safety, quality, sanitation, maintenance and production) is thorough and accurate.

  • Assure coordination with other departments to ensure efficient flow of operations through the production facility from raw materials to finished products.

  • You will help move bins with packaged product to the cooler using a pump jack.

  • You will help with general cleanup between products and at the end of the production shift.

  • You will also help prepare for future production by opening cased products in the warehouse or in the cooler.

  • You will work with your team to ensure timely and efficient production.

  • You will learn all of the positions in the department.

  • You will properly document packaging activities.

  • You will learn and follow all food safety, employee safety, and Good Manufacturing Procedures.

  • You will be responsible for all tasks that relate to the entire packaging department including machine operation and documentation.

  • You will be responsible for ensuring all department documentation is recorded on time, recorded correctly, and submitted properly, utilizing computerized systems.

  • You will be responsible for ensuring new team members are properly trained.

  • You will be responsible for identifying and promptly reporting potentially unsafe working or equipment conditions.

  • You will be responsible for identifying and promptly reporting product, processing, or documentation issues to management.

  • You will be responsible for stopping department processes when applicable.

  • You will properly document issues and concerns.

  • You will provide recommendations for corrective actions or solutions.

  • You will obtain management approval prior to proceeding with suggested actions.

  • You will constantly look for ways to improve production practices to improve safety and efficiency by identifying limiting conditions and proposing clearly thought-out solutions.

  • You will report team member concerns to management. You will not be responsible for team member discipline.

Physcial Requirments:




  • Ability to maintain stationary position to be able to operate a computer and other office equipment

  • Must be able to identify, analyze and assess details

  • For certain positions, must be able to occasionally move or transport items up to 50 pounds

  • Ability to communicate with others and exchange information accurately and effectively

  • Constantly positions self and move about to support ordinary restaurant or food production support or office operations, as applicable

  • Ability to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner
