Position Summary:




We are seeking a detail-oriented Grant Accountant to manage financial aspects of grants awarded to the organization. The Grant Accountant will be responsible for monitoring budgets, preparing financial reports, and ensuring compliance with grant regulations. The ideal candidate has experience in non-profit accounting, a strong understanding of grant funding, and proficiency with financial software.




Key Responsibilities:





  • Grant Management:



    • Oversee the financial administration of grants, including the budgeting, tracking, and reporting.

    • Prepare and submit financial reports to grantors in compliance with funding guidelines and deadlines.

    • Ensure proper allocation of grant funds and maintain detailed records of grant expenditures.

    • Assist program managers with budget revisions and financial forecasts for grant projects.




  • Compliance and Auditing:



    • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations governing grant expenditures.

    • Support audits by providing requested documentation and explanations of grant financials.

    • Monitor grant spending to ensure costs align with the terms of grant agreements.




  • Financial Reporting:



    • Reconcile grant accounts regularly and resolve discrepancies in financial records.

    • Prepare financial statements and reports for internal management and external funders.

    • Maintain up-to-date records of grant budgets, expenses, and payments in the accounting system.




  • Budgeting:



    • Assist in preparing budgets for grant proposals and modifications.

    • Work with program staff to develop financial plans for new and existing grants.





Required Qualifications:





  • Education:



    • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related field.

    • CPA or CGFM (Certified Government Financial Manager) preferred.




  • Experience:



    • Minimum of 3 years of accounting experience, preferably with grant management in a non-profit or governmental environment.

    • Strong knowledge of GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and OMB (Office of Management and Budget) Circulars.




  • Skills:



    • Proficiency with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage Intacct, etc.) and advanced Excel skills.

    • Familiarity with federal grant regulations and fund accounting.

    • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.

    • Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently.

    • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
