Complete all Quality Assurance and Good Lab Practice Training before initiation of analysis. Familiar with APHA Standard Methods and able to learn/perform laboratory procedures.
Follow Laboratory selected methods and Laboratory SOP's to perform assigned analysis in the areas of microbiology. Meet criteria for accurate and precise data in an organized, legible and consistent manner.
Meet quality control criteria as established by ISO 10725 and lab management.
Meet ethical requirements as established by ISO 17025 and lab management.
Apply root cause and corrective action concepts when resolving problems with analysis or customer complaints.
Must be able to work shift schedule of 12:00-9:00pm from Tuesday-Saturday or Sunday-Thursday. (Schedule is subject to change)
Rotate with staff to cover shifts, as required
Late night or shift rotation (pre-scheduled) when necessary. Pick up and deliver samples as needed.
The Ideal Candidate would possess:
Proficient in math, general laboratory techniques and computer skills. Understand Statistics, accurate data entry and legible handwriting. Good listening and English communication skills.
Proficient and knowledgeable in classical and current microbial techniques.
Perform QA/QC for microbiology section. Review and assist with updates of manual and method updates.
Perform microbial analysis meeting priorities of holding time, capacity, capability and quality control. Maintenance of analytical instruments. Able to self-assign and meet lab all assignments appropriate to the section.
Ability to handle tight deadlines and maintain composure under stress. Participate and contribute to the team atmosphere.
Able to knowledgeably and safely handle hazardous chemicals.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelors of Science in Microbiology, Biology or related science. 2 years of successful analytical laboratory experience, preferred
Maintain current Washington State Driver's license and vehicle insurability.
Able to lift 25# safely.
