The Sterile Processing Department (SPD) Supervisor of Education ensures that SPD associates are properly trained and operating within the guidelines set forth by industry standards and regulations throughout the Delaware Valley to include, but not limited to:

The primary position at Nemours Children's Hospital (NCH), Delaware (DE), will include collaboration with Nemours Ambulatory Surgery Facilities (ASFs) in Pennsylvania (PA) and New Jersey (NJ) to standardize and optimize SPD practices in achieving positive patient outcomes. This position is responsible for various departmental administrative duties that may require travel to all Delaware Valley (DV) locations engaged in High Level Disinfection (HLD) in order to assess and maintain standard operating practices and competencies. This position is accountable for adherence to federal, state, and organizational policies and procedures of Nemours to include the Ambulatory Surgery Facilities in Pennsylvania (PA) and New Jersey (NJ).

The SPD Supervisor of Education provides departmental leadership, associate supervision, and supports workflow activities that occur in the sterile processing and decontamination areas at NCH-DE. He/she consistently demonstrates effective leadership and competence in all decontamination and sterilization processes. This position ensures that unit staffing is adequate to support all sterile processing and decontamination processes utilizing current techniques for preparation of reusable instrument trays and supplies for the operating room (OR), and other units within the NCH-DE facility that require re-processing or sterilization.

This position will be responsible for assessing and maintaining associate competencies with regard to instrumentation, endoscopes, and probe reprocessing functions throughout the DV. Additional duties include maintenance/monitoring of all DV sterilization records in accordance with current regulatory standards, completion of weekly audits of sterilization and decontamination processes, and provision of monthly reports. This position will be responsible for regulatory preparedness and standardization/maintenance of DV SPD supplies in cooperation with the SPD Manager. He/she will collaborate with Perioperative Services leadership to identify SPD learning needs, ensuring annual training, and completing new associate orientation throughout the DV.

The SPD Supervisor of Education is expected to maintain all state and federal clearances for DE, PA, and NJ for periodic rotation to the PA and NJ ASFs at the discretion of Perioperative Leadership.

This position requires working shifts aligned with the needs of the department and the assigned FTE of the SPD Supervisor of Education. This position includes on-call, holiday, and weekend requirements based on the needs of the department.

Schedule: Monday-Friday 8:00 AM - 4:30PM; Occasional flexible hours as needed

Qualifications:

• Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) required
• Certified Instrument Specialist (CIS) required
• Certified Endoscope Reprocessor (CER) required
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (ADA) is required upon hire and must be maintained for the duration of employment.
