JOB SUMMARY:

The Associate Director of Scholarships serves as a member of the Financial Aid leadership team with primary responsibility for managing University scholarships, including establishing budgets, monitoring student eligibility, and ensuring compliance with NCAA and university regulations for athletic scholarships. This role also oversees staff performance, ensures compliance with state scholarship programs, and participates in the scholarship selection process to support the effective distribution of awards.

JOB DUTIES:

40% - Essential - Program Management: Identifies viable University scholarships to be awarded during initial and supplementary awarding periods. Establishes the budget for each restricted scholarship program in conjunction with other university offices as well as monitors student' eligibility. Participates in the scholarship selection process for each program and coordinates preparation of scholarship materials and distribution to collegiate representatives, including Departmental Select Scholarships. Responsibility for all athletic scholarships and their compliance with University and NCAA regulations.

20% - Essential - Supervision and Leadership: Manages staff who accomplish the goals and objectives of the office as well as performance appraisals. Directs staff to participate in various training exercises, seminars, conferences and professional meetings. Assists with the selection of new employees in other positions as requested by the Director and serves on the office management team.

15% - Essential - Policy and Compliance: Ensures compliance with state regulatory requirements relative to state grants and scholarships, including lottery-generated initiatives. Monitors students' eligibility for all state programs to ensure compliance and implementation of best practices.

10% - Essential - Systems and Reporting: Monitors university (4% and waivers), endowed, and annual scholarship budgets. Evaluates current program commitments and determines available funds. Requests budget amendments and serves as department contact for budget center on scholarship budgets and posting errors. Researches and resolves deficit balances in scholarship accounts, as well as manages funding models for University scholarships. Evaluates policies, procedures and workflow of scholarships for conformance with State, institutional and program guidelines and recommends policy modifications.

15% - Essential - Service and Support: Counsels students and various individuals, interpreting financial aid issues, and handling escalated cases. Defines and develops institutional goals and objectives regarding financial aid issues by serving on various University committees. Advises the Associate VP for Enrollment Management and the Director of Student Financial Aid on scholarship issues. Assists students during orientations and registrations. Assists the Director and serves on the management team, including providing updates in managerial and staff meetings, EM quarterly meetings, and responding to data requests. Participates in professional development activities, including the attendance at conferences and training workshops.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Education - Bachelor's Degree
Experience - 2 years of relevant experience managing Financial Aid programs
