Overview
We are currently seeking a creative, hard-working, and self-motivated professional in child care and other related human services/social services to support a federally funded project. The successful candidate will contribute to a project that provides our federal client and their end users with information and support through training; technical assistance; resource development; information and referral services; technology transfer, program monitoring/auditing; process redesign; research; and evaluation. The candidate chosen will be expected to contribute to WRMA’s collaborative, collegial work environment; maintain our high ethical and quality standards; and contribute to proposals and other business development efforts.
This position is based out of WRMA’s Rockville, Maryland office but is a remote/virtual position. Candidates must have consistent, daily access to a working environment that is physically located in the United States and conducive to professional activities (regular video/audio meetings, tasks requiring quiet focus, etc.). Necessary hardware, software, and IT support are provided.
Responsibilities
Work as part of collaborative remote teams to:
Share subject matter expertise with federal clients and their end users through hands-on program support, training and technical assistance (T/TA), virtual and in-person presentations, resource development, and other information sharing and dissemination methods
Provide logistical and content support for federal onsite and virtual T/TA, monitoring, oversight, and research and evaluation efforts
Coordinate and facilitate virtual and in-person meetings with federal staff, federal grantees, human services practitioners, human services clients, researchers, colleagues, and the public
Conduct literature and policy reviews
Analyze systems needs and processes, developing nonbiased plans to assist in decision making and implementation by local agencies
Write and edit reports, process guides, training manuals, slide decks, information briefs, white papers, website content, event marketing announcements, and social media posts
As appropriate, participate in topical work teams to develop innovative solutions to challenges in the CC/ECE and other human services/social services fields
Actively remain current regarding developments and trends in the relevant field and participate, as appropriate, with professional organizations
Participate in staff development activities to build knowledge and skills
Collaborate with other project staff located in various parts of the country to assure timely completion of project deliverables
Develop, with other WRMA staff, responses to requests for proposals and grant applications, as required from time to time
Participate actively in dialogue and discussions to achieve effective company-wide working relationships.
Represent WRMA to internal and external audiences under direction of senior staff.
Participate in the implementation of various company projects and contracts as requested.
Solve problems through initiative, information gathering, and recommending creative solutions.
Additional related duties as needed.
Qualifications
Candidates should possess a combination of positive attitude, strong work ethic, education, technical skills, subject matter knowledge, and the ability to build productive professional relationships with colleagues and clients. Candidates should have:
Bachelor’s degree or higher in early childhood education, human development, nutrition, education, social work, psychology, public policy, public administration, sociology, health sciences, information technology, computer science, data science, finance, or a related field; associate degrees and degrees in progress will be considered
5+ years of experience with federally funded human services/social services programs, including but not limited to Child Care and Development Fund (CCDF), 21st Century Community Learning Centers, Social Services Block Grant (SSBG), Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF), Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP), Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP), Medicaid, Child Support, Head Start, or child welfare; state/territory/Tribal CCDF experience a plus
Experience providing training, technical assistance, information services, and/or process development support to diverse audiences
Experience with developing and implementing state child care and other human services IT systems, strongly desired
Experience in the oversight or support of implementing, upgrading, and/or maintaining human services IT systems, a plus
Experience conducting program evaluation, monitoring, or auditing, a plus
Experience working in rural, urban, and/or tribal communities, a plus
Professional certifications, such as Project Management Professional (PMP), Lean Six Sigma, etc. a plus
Ability to analyze complex data and information and to convey results and recommendations succinctly and accurately (demonstrated experience with qualitative and/or quantitative analysis software, such as Atlas.ti or SPSS, and/or data visualization software, such as Tableau, a plus)
Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and experience with virtual meeting software such as MS Teams, Zoom, GoToMeeting/GoToWebinar
Strong writing and editing skills (a writing sample may be required)
Excellent attention to detail
Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time to contribute effectively to multiple projects simultaneously
Successful experience working effectively with persons from diverse cultural, social, ethnic, and linguistic backgrounds
Strong skills in communicating with a wide range of audiences; public speaking experience, a plus
Educational or professional experience working remotely, a plus
Dual language fluency, particularly Spanish/English, a plus
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Ability to travel on work assignments to client sites, departmental meetings, and various conferences
