This position is responsible for a wide variety of duties supporting the Company’s legal activities, customs and trade compliance, the supply chain organization and other projects to support business operations. The position will work within the Corporate Group and support all company divisions as necessary to accomplish desired results.



Responsibilities

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Carries out product compliance risk assessments reviewing current processes, resources, policies and procedures to aid in identifying gaps and potential areas of compliance vulnerability within the company.
  • Researches and monitors product regulations at the federal, state and global level to ensure regulatory and agency product compliance requirements such as Prop 65, Rohs, REACH, etc., as well as evolving best practices in compliance.
  • Develops compliance programs to mitigate risk and ensure compliance throughout the organization.
  • Takes timely actions to ensure product compliance with applicable laws and internal company policies.
  • Works as part of the Supply Chain Committee to assist in assessing compliance risks, including identification of risks, supplier audits, estimation of associated costs for addressing the risks, and then collaborating with team members for implementation of recommended improvements.
  • Reviews and provides recommended updates to each Division’s Supplier Manual and Supplier Code of Conduct to ensure our policies provide current and relevant content.
  • Assists Product Managers and the Engineering Department to ensure product safety and regulatory compliance in all countries where IDEAL’s products are sold.
  • Participates in Product Liability Committee to identify and quantify safety and compliance risks and develop mitigation plans.
  • Participates in product development projects to ensure that safety, regulatory and agency requirements are identified and satisfied in target markets (global).
  • Assists in reviewing and approving product labeling, packaging artwork, and instruction booklets to ensure safety and compliance requirements are met, pursuant to existing Packaging Guidelines.
  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement, evaluating work processes and external relationships to identify and implement changes to maximize efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Completes trade data entry for commodities with known classification, origin, and origin markings and maintains the accuracy of the trade data information within systems.
  • Ensures adequate and accurate transaction records related to import and export shipments are available to support trade-related activities.
  • Reports trade information to import/export brokers to help them accurately declare shipments on behalf of businesses.
  • Oversees and maintains record storage and maintenance of records within the department.
  • Performs annual qualifications to support Free Trade Agreement programs, such as USMCA & UAFTA, as well as the Buy American Act (BAA) or Trade Agreement Act (TAA), etc. Issue certifications.
  • Participates in industry associations, standards development, and rulemaking as appropriate.
  • Serves as the primary contact for efficient and compliant shipment processing across various divisions.
  • Develops and delivers effective training programs for employees.
  • Performs other duties and special projects as requested.
  • Provides Administrative support.


Qualifications



REQUIREMENTS:

  • Unquestionable integrity, a professional image, and a demonstrated history of exemplary ethical behavior.
  • Bachelor’s or Associate's Degree.
  • Ability and willingness to handle common office duties and multitasking.
  • Experience with contracts and supply chain operations.
  • Capable of learning new ERP systems.
  • Some travel required.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Proficient in using Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and in working on Teams application.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to understand and align activities with department priorities and objectives.
  • Strong communication skills (both verbal and written) with the ability to communicate professionally and effectively with corporate executives, department heads, customers and business clients at all levels.
  • Willingness and ability to deal constructively with difficult issues and take appropriate action.
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently.
  • Strong clerical skills, including filing and record keeping.
