Role Summary

This Medical Executive is responsible for supporting the National Accounts Organization by delivering clinical analysis and strategic direction for potential and existing clients. The position has responsibility for collaborating with Clinical Operations, Account Management, Underwriting, Reporting, Product and other matrix partners to assist in identifying and solving client-specific opportunities. It leverages an understanding of current and future healthcare trends and employer needs to develop and monitor client-specific executable strategies, clinical programs and integrated clinical actions. This position requires deep subject matter expertise in Cigna clinical and network products and solutions and healthcare industry trends. Close collaboration with Sales, Market Leads and Account Management will be required to optimize client retention and growth in order to achieve National Accounts Sales goals.

Major Duties

New Sales:


  • Effectively communicate Cigna's value proposition regarding differentiated health advocacy, clinical and network solutions in Finalist meetings.

  • Support the RFP response process for key opportunities by recommending the most appropriate strategies and innovations to meet potential client/consultant needs.

  • Participate in consultant road show presentations, including updates on CIGNA's differentiated health advocacy capabilities and outcomes.

Account Management, Retention and Growth:


  • Partner with the National Account Executive (NAE) to develop and implement client-specific strategic roadmaps driving client retention, growth, and product penetration.

  • Attend regular meetings with clients to provide clinical analysis on key metrics and opportunities. This includes working with the NAE, Clinical Consultant, Informatics Consultant / Underwriter, Clinical Operations, Product and other matrix partners to: 1) evaluate client cost drivers, population health needs and existing program impact, and 2) develop and deliver targeted recommendations to address identified opportunities, assisting clients in setting strategic health improvement plans and implementing new programs.

  • Act as a liaison between Clinical Operations, the Account Team, and clients to solve complex or escalated issues.

  • Develop strong relationships with clients.

  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with key clinical consultants as well as consultant thought leaders.

  • Provide support during clinical audits and help support the development/communication of corrective action plans as needed.

  • Act as a clinical resource to National Accounts, providing clinical subject matter expertise as opportunities are identified.

  • Support special projects and national initiatives.

  • Deliver presentations in person and virtually as a subject matter expert.

Qualifications

Board certified physician with ABMS approved specialty required.
5 years of clinical practice experience required.
Current unrestricted medical license required.
Prefer experience with network, quality and sales/account management.
Demonstrated strong interpersonal, communication, analytical, strategic, influencing, leadership and teamwork skills. Must be results-focused and able to work comfortably in a complex, matrixed environment.
Extensive domestic travel is required.

For this position, we anticipate offering an annual salary of 196,800 - 328,000 USD / yearly, depending on relevant factors, including experience and geographic location.

This role is also anticipated to be eligible to participate in an annual bonus and long term incentive plan.
