The Social/Clinical Research Specialist will function to support several investigator-initiated projects for the Department of Neurology. The position will work independently to start new studies, carry out chart abstractions, data collection, data entry into databases, complete literature searches, and complete scientific writing as needed. This position additionally will support the division with the ability to master and implement study protocols, ensure that study visits occur on schedule and that all assessments are performed and documented correctly. Will complete IRB actions, maintain regulatory documents needed for investigator, as well as create and complete subject binders as needed.
The NCTU manages a complex mix of trials. This position manages, conducts, and evaluates the clinical research associated with the Department of Neurology. The work performed is to support the expanding research program within the department. The position will interact providers with a broad range of projects. The position may interact with patients impacted by a broad range of neurological impairment.
This position validates data/information collection, documentation, and analysis with a goal of performing and ensuring that good clinical practice guidelines are followed. The range of duties include, but not limited to: management of projects, (planning and design, data/information collection and analysis, project administration and oversight).
Bachelor's degree in a discipline related to the field assigned and one year of related training or experience; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.
The Social/Clinical Research Specialist must be able to demonstrate an advanced working knowledge of research, regulatory compliance (FDA, ICH, GCP), confidentiality (HIPAA) and ability to understand clinical protocols. Must have advanced proficiency with medical terminology and must be able to review medical records with a high enough level of understanding to effectively screen patients according to study inclusion/exclusion criteria, and abstract data from medical chart into a database. Must have strong software and computer skills. Must be able to multi-task and work independently. Must have excellent oral and written communication skills. Must have a basic knowledge of social/clinical research principles, study design, methods of data/information collection, and analysis used to complete defined assignments. Must be able to plan work to meet established deadlines.
Preferred candidates will have:
* Experience working on multiple investigator-initiated projects and/ or retrospective chart reviews.
* Ability to build, maintain, and update databases such as RedCap, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Access or other web based platform.
* Experience with writing abstracts, posters and contributing to other scientific publications
* Strong attention to detail
