Job Description:

CooperVision (CVI) is recruiting an IT Sr Programmer Analyst.  As a member of the Information Systems Department, the Sr Programmer Analyst provides support to local, regional, and global system projects including design, requirements, programming, testing and implementation of new and upgraded software applications.  Position is based in our Juana Diaz, Puerto Rico Campus.    

Scope

Manage CVI global release cycle, including analysis, design, test, implementation, support and documentation phases of IT and overall business projects and programs.  Facilitates communication, coordination, and knowledge sharing with the end user community across the area and with the other local/regional Business Analysts. 

Essential Functions & Accountabilities:


  • Analyze requests from users for new systems, new programs, program changes, etc. and recommend necessary action.

  • Design new systems and modifications to existing systems to meet user requirements.

  • Write new, test, or modify existing programs according to specified systems designs.  Develop test data for use in program testing.

  • Write documentation of system changes in conformance with department standards (report descriptions, user procedures, operations procedures)

  • Reviews user requirements for new applications or enhancements to existing applications and performs analysis, design, development, testing, installation, and training related to the application developed.

  • Train users in operation of new or modified systems.

  • Aid in preparation of time and cost estimates for program development.

  • Analyze requests and write program specs for Jr. Programmers and contractors.

  • As business needs dictate, works extended hours to complete daily department goals or tasks.  Provide programming support on-site or by phone as required for all shifts.

  • Project execution from plan and testing, implementation, training, and documentation activities for local projects. 

  • Assist other developers and stakeholders through provision of functional specifications and technical walk through.


Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills and Abilities) :


  • Technically fluent in programming languages, including C# & Visual Basic and .NET. Prior experience with Enterprise Application Integration tools and SOA based Applications and Architectures a plus.

  • Software development life cycle (Waterfall & Agile like methods) and software quality assurance best practices and methodologies.

  • Sound architectural concepts in areas such as Middleware and Integration Patterns and technology.

  • Proficient in C# ASP.NET, MVC, Web Forms and SQL, among other proved Web and Development tools.

  • Good technical design skills including object-oriented design principles and patterns.

  • Basic understanding of Web markup including HTML5, CSS and Bootstrap

  • Basic understanding of JavaScript, jQuery, WCF and Web Services

  • Deep technical understanding and technical capability with Oracle or SQL Server RDBMS

  • Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication and time management skills.

  • Robust attention to detail.

  • Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.

  • Extensive experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.

  • Fully bilingual (English/Spanish)

  • Computer Validation Process Knowledge and Documentation Skills


Experience:


  • Three (3) years’ experience on the Information Technology field required.  Experience designing, developing and implementing enterprise software and applications highly desirable. 

  • Exposure and working experience on integration architecture and system design preferably in an ERP and/or manufacturing environment strongly preferred. 

  • Microsoft Office suite and service / ticketing tools advanced proficiency required. 

  • Flexibility to work beyond traditional schedules and workdays, based on operational needs required. 

  • Ability to analyze complex problems, think critically, and implement effective solutions.


Education:


  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems, engineering, or related technical field.
