Job Description:

Primary Functions:

The Program Manager, Solid Organ Transplant is responsible for the oversight, direction and management of the operational, financial, programmatic, clinical, compliance, marketing, outreach and personnel activities of the Nemours Children's Hospital - Delaware Transplant Center, particularly the kidney and liver transplant programs.

Essential Functions:

  • Contribute to the achievement of the goals and objectives of the hospital and the Division of Solid Organ Transplant by providing leadership, direction, and coordination of operations, finances, and human resources.
  • Ensure achievement of goals and objectives through ongoing monitoring and coordination with physicians, other departments, and staff.
  • Prepare, develop, and modify policies, procedures, protocols, and clinical guidelines necessary for successful operation, full regulatory compliance and ensuring excellent patient outcomes.
  • Act independently with significant decision making based upon understanding of established protocols for management of transplant patients.
  • Ensure appropriate staffing models and responsible for hiring, onboarding and ongoing supervision of direct reports.
  • Provide ongoing direction to the organ transplant coordinators and department support staff.
  • Work collaboratively with Gastroenterology (GI), Diagnostic Referral Services (DRS), Hepatology, Nephrology clinical staff as well as other managers and directors.
  • Ensure regulatory readiness. Accountable for adherence to all regulatory and accrediting agency standards, including, but not limited to Centers for Medicaid and Medicare Services (CMS), Organ Procurement and Transplantation Network (OPTN)/United Network of Organ Sharing (UNOS), as well as all internal organizational policies, procedures, and guidelines.
  • Ensure monthly time studies are completed and submitted on time for compliance with Medicare cost reporting.
  • Ongoing evaluation and assessment of workflows to ensure efficiency and productivity.
  • Collaborate closely with Jefferson Transplant Institute (JTI) Facilitate opportunities for programmatic growth through outreach, collaboration with referring providers, etc.
  • Actively lead and participate in quality improvement initiatives in the program.
  • Oversee monitoring and ensure compliance with billing activities.
  • Develops and coordinates department response to new hospital policies and protocols meeting new demands from third party payers and regulatory agencies.
  • Additional miscellaneous duties and responsibilities, as may be assigned from time to time by employee's supervisor.

  • Job Requirements:

    Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) is required; Advanced degree preferred


    • Active Delaware (or compact state) Registered Nurse Licensure Required
    • American Heart Association's Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification is required prior to starting in the role.
    • Minimum five years of programmatic leadership experience required, to include at least 3 years of nursing experience
    • Transplant experience is preferred
    • Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Maryland and/or Florida Registered Nurse Licensure preferred.
