POSITION SUMMARY
Assists the Dean of nursing with his/her responsibilities as determined by both jointly. Provides leadership and counseling in development coordinating, implementing and supervising department policies, procedures, and program. This is a line position reporting directly to the Dean of Nursing
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSBILITES
Assists in the formulation of philosophy, objectives, and curriculum of the Associate Degree of Nursing (ADN) Program.
Coordinates with and assists the Director of Nursing in establishing, reviewing and revising the policies, and procedures of the ADN Program.
Develops, coordinates, supervises and consults on management systems for the ADN, BSN Program assists in designing and implementing forms/systems.
Plans, implements, and evaluates initial orientation and ongoing educational experiences for ADN/BSN students.
Assists faculty in planning and developing clinical/theory schedules, lesson plans, etc.
Works with the Director of develop, maintain, and utilize records and reports pertinent to the ADN program.
Assists in securing, maintaining instructional, and reference materials. Participates in selection and preparation of instructional materials.
Plans and oversees the orientation and training of new personnel.
Maintains effective communication with assigned personnel and provides necessary guidance and counseling.
Participates in faculty meetings, projects, surveys, and studies being conducted by the Associate Degree Nursing Program/BSN and Administration.
Contributes to the development of new and better ways for performing job functions.
Assists with preliminary interviews of prospective students.
Participates in the student counseling process.
Acts as first line substitute instructor on-call for clinical/theory relief.
Directs and monitors activities of the department in the absence of, or as delegated by the Dean of Nursing.
Confers frequently and routinely with the Dean of nursing in regularly scheduled work sessions.
Maintains professional competence through participation in continuing education and other appropriate learning experiences.
In the absence of the Dean of Nursing, assumes responsibilities of the Dean of Nursing.
Performs all other duties as assigned
EDUCATION AND EXPERINCE
Master’s degree in Nursing from an accredited institution. Must possess current valid California R.N. license.
Must meet the requirements of the Associate Director as deemed by the Board of Registered Nursing.
Completed advanced courses in the field of nursing education, including courses in administration, principles of teaching, supervision, and curriculum planning.
Minimum of three years’ experience as an R.N., at least one year in teaching or clinical supervision within the past five years.
