Job Description

Basic Function and Scope of Responsibility:
The Software Engineer is primarily responsible for designing, developing, configuring and supporting computer software applications.
Essential Job Duties:
Level I - Minimum
Manage designated technology application portfolio from configuration, maintenance and monitoring
Provide analysis, architectural design and leadership on small size projects
Work within defined IT processes and procedures including the company's internal software development life cycle methodology (SDLC)
Serve as liaisons between technical and business departments to ensure that all requirements and targets are met
Work under close to moderate supervision with limited latitude for independent judgment
Consult with senior peers on non-complex projects to learn through experience
Apply basic application management and administration skills with moderate level of proficiency
Represent department and the organization favorably and in accordance with established Company standards and associate attributes at all times
Participate in 24x7 On Call rotation supporting break/fix ticket resolution.
Other duties as assigned by management
Qualifications
Essential Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Level I - Minimum
Bachelor's degree in computer science, business or equivalent experience and training
Up to 3 years of successful application & system development and management; database experience utilizing the .NET Framework
Analytical, motivated and ability to learn new technologies and applications
Ability to multi-task
Knowledge and management of System Development Lifecycle Methodologies a plus
Goal oriented, with excellent time management and organizational skills
Excellent interpersonal skills, with ability to interact effectively and work efficiently with people at all levels in an organization
Excellent verbal & written communication skills
Keenly attentive to detail
Ability to keep sensitive information confidential
Preferred Experience:
SQL Server or Oracle. SQL Server Integration Tools.
Leading projects, developing and administrating Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS): STARLiMS, Outreach
Leading projects, developing and administrating Specimen Management Systems
Leading projects, developing and administrating Lab Instrument Interfaces connecting instruments to LIMS
Working knowledge of HL7 standard and coding; Corepoint HL7 application
Knowledge of testing laboratory operations and processes a plus
High level of proficiency with PC based software programs; including project management tools, MS Project
Physical Requirements:
Physical dexterity sufficient to use hands, arms, and shoulders repetitively to operate a keyboard and other office equipment, use a telephone, access file cabinets and other items stored at various levels, including overhead
Ability to speak and hear well enough to communicate clearly and understandably with sufficient volume to ensure an accurate exchange of information in normal conversational distance, over the telephone, and in a group setting
Ability to continuously operate a personal computer for extended periods of time (4 or more hours)
Mental acuity sufficient to collect and interpret data, evaluate, reason, define problems, establish facts, draw valid conclusions, make valid judgments and decisions
