Your Background & Skills

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field.
  • Minimum of 1+ year of relevant experience in a similar role.
  • Familiarity with USAID donor requirements is an advantage.
  • Strong understanding and proficiency in using various social media platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, TikTok, etc.
  • Speaking, reading, and writing proficiency in English is required. Additional proficiency in Sinhala and, or Tamil is strongly preferred.
  • Comprehensive understanding of media or media development, program management, logistics, and coordination.
  • Proven organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail, including the ability to prioritize tasks.
  • Strong interpersonal and cross-cultural communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as a team member with the ability to take initiative, meet deadlines, and be flexible.
  • Professionalism in written correspondence and report writing, strong presentation and oral communication skills.
  • Strong work ethic, ability to work in a multicultural environment, work remotely and travel outside Colombo.
  • Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office software applications, including Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Must demonstrate valid proof of unrestricted work authorization in Sri Lanka.

Your Daily Tasks

  • Manage all social media accounts of the citizen journalism platform – including posting and monthly analytics.
  • Provide direct coordination with citizen journalists and consultants for training requirements and other support.
  • Support the relevant program staff in all aspects of program implementation to ensure timely and accurate completion of deliverables.
  • Coordinate the activities that are directly implemented by IREX in support of the program objectives.
  • Facilitate communication between technical experts and citizen journalists
  • Provide guidance on training plans and activities.
  • Provide occasional translation of documents, virtual sessions, and social media posts to and from English and local languages as requested.
  • Maintain a database of IREX’s partners, beneficiaries and other stakeholders in the country.
  • Maintain complete records and a database of activities including meetings, consultations, trainings and information required for monitoring and evaluation reporting.
  • Review beneficiary reports, deliverables and documentation for compliance with programmatic requirements, with guidance from the program staff.
  • Support the program staff with procurement and grant awarding.
  • Support the program staff in budgeting exercises.
  • Other duties as assigned.
