A day in the life.



As our National Complex Claims Leader on the Claims team you will report to the SVP, National Claims Director, and you will build relationships with stakeholders such as MMA national leadership, regional claims leadership, Marsh Claims Advocacy, and industry vertical leaders. You'll serve as an advisor and resource for the regions to help them develop their claims management processes. As the National Complex Claims Leader, you will resolve complex claims, identify problematic claim trends, and seek solutions regardless of whether the origin is insurer claim handling, coverage interpretation, or placement related. You will engage directly with clients or client attorneys and educate them on the claims process and coverage determinations. As the National Complex Claims Leader will actively participate in the national Claims COE and Risk Services COE.


Additional responsibilities will include:


  • Develop protocols for handling of complex claims


  • Provide Errors and Omissions (E&O) expertise and guidance by working closely with the MMA Litigation team to investigate and advocate on claims that have a potential E&O aspect


  • Participate in larger New Business and Renewal opportunities by developing a high-quality presentation for MMA colleagues to promote our claim advocacy capabilities as a differentiator


  • Work closely with carriers and wholesalers to negotiate guidelines and branded endorsements.


  • Maintain a scorecard related to resolved complex claim matters


  • Develop a claim data for tracking claims and identifying trends and challenges


  • Support the regions with client retention while working through challenging claims situations


  • Proactively monitor policy exclusionary wording


  • Interact closely with Marsh Claims Advocacy and Technical Issues Group


  • Build and maintain strong relationships within MMA, wholesalers, Marsh, and insurer claim executives


  • Work with insurers and wholesalers to negotiate carrier claim handling guidelines for MMA, wholesaler claim support processes, claim liaisons and escalation procedures

  • Law degree. J.D., AIC, ARM, CIC or CRM.


  • Property & Casualty License or willingness to obtain required.


  • Established and continued relationships with local and national law firms


  • Comfortability with travel

The applicable base salary range for this role is $113,000 to $210,900. The base pay offered will be determined on factors such as experience, skills, training, location, certifications, education, and any applicable minimum wage requirements. Decisions will be determined on a case-by-case basis. In addition to the base salary, this position may be eligible for performance-based incentives.
