Job Description:

The Department of Health and Human Services is seeking a motivated individual to join our Developmental Disabilities Team and fill the role of DHHS Program Coordinator. This position will involve working with Area Agencies on Aging to implement home and community-based services authorized by the federal Older Americans Act as well as the Nebraska Community Aging Services Act.


As a Program Coordinator you will:

• 
  Support Nebraska's Area Agencies on Aging in implementing Nebraska's Care Management Program and the federal Older Americans Act programs.
  
  
  


• 
  Interpret federal and state legislation and regulations to develop guidance for Nebraska's Area Agencies on Aging.
  
  
  


• 
  Assist with the development and implementation of Nebraska's State Plan on Aging.
  
  
  


• 
  Monitor Nebraska Area Agency on Aging Care Management and Older Americans Act funded programs to ensure compliance with applicable guidance.
  
  
  

Requirements/ Qualifications:




Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in business or public administration, social/behavioral sciences, health sciences, public health, education, law, or related field. OR Experience in the development of operational policies and procedures, performing quality assurance analysis/evaluation of programs; grant writing, contract management, or leading community-based health/social care groups. Related coursework, training and/or education may substitute for the Bachelor's degree on a year-for year basis.



Preferred Qualifications:



Preferred qualifications include a bachelor's degree in social work or a human service-related field as well of 2 years of relevant work experience. Relevant experience may include aging services case management or services coordination.



Knowledge of: basic accounting and business administration; social work and management theory; the structure of organizations; state, local and federal laws and programs relating to social service programs; available funding sources; human dynamics; learning/teaching techniques.



Ability to: relate well with a diverse number of individuals or organizations; analyze community's present needs and recommend programs to achieve desired results; work with people in a variety of roles (leadership, cooperation, education, networking).



Skill in: persuading others to adopt programs; presenting information to groups or individuals in oral or written form; problem solving; prioritizing; goal setting; conflict resolution.
