Job Description Summary
The Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine's Research Business Office (RBO) is seeking a new Grants Manager A/B. The Grants Manager A/B will report to RBO's Director , Fiscal Operations. PLM's RBO supports the research business needs of the department. Primary purpose of this role is to support the research activities of PLM. Under limited supervision, this position will manage the sponsored program funds from pre-award through post-award while working with Principal Investigators on propoisal development, budget development and related pre-award requirements and submission for a diverse sponsor portfolio. The individual will also manage the post-award processes including monitoring and r4eview of all charges, reconciliation of accounts, and preparation of monthly financial reports for Principal Investigators. Reviews proposals and accounts for compliance with sponsor and University policies and ensure Regulatory Affairs requirements are satisfied and that Conflict of Interest disclosures are submitted when required. Provides full accounting services, reconciling budgets, processing payroll, effort reports, financial reporting; monitors grant expenditures for compliance with sponsor regulations and guidelines. The Grants Manager A/B will monitor and enforce compliance with sponsor and University guidelines and OMB Uniform Guidance.
Grants Manager B: The Grants Manager B will work more independently and actively participate in specific projects, including the annual budget submission. Work on more complicated grants and faculty research portfolios such as program projects with multiple sub-contracts. The Grants Manager B will have greater grants management experience than the Grants Manager A, such that s/he can make greater contributions, including engaging in financial analysis.

Grants Manager A:
The primary purpose of this role is to support the research activities of specific Principle Investigators. Under limited supervision, this position will manage the sponsored program funds from pre-award through post-award while working with Principal Investigators on proposal development, budget development and related pre-award requirements and submission for a diverse sponsor portfolio. The individual will also manage the post-award processes including monitoring and review of all charges, reconciliation of accounts, and preparation of monthly financial reports for Principal Investigators. Consults with research faculty in the preparation of sponsored project budget and proposals; review proposals for compliance with sponsor and University policies and ensure Regulatory Affairs requirements are satisfied and that Conflict of Interest statements are submitted when required. Provides full accounting services, reconciling budgets, processing payroll, financial reporting; monitors grant expenditures for compliance with sponsor regulations and guidelines. Act as a liaison to PSOM Research Support Services and University ORS.
Grants Manager B:
All Duties listed above plus the following:
Grants Manager B will work more independently and on more complicated grants including training grants and program projects with multiple sub-contracts. Moreover, it is expected that the Grants Manager B candidate will have a greater grants management experience than the Grants Manager A candidate, such that s/he can make greater contributions, including engaging in financial analysis for the Director of Fiscal Operations. Will act as a mentor to junior grants managers and coordinators.

Bachelor's Degree with 3-5 years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience is required

Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Finance or Accounting with 5-7 years of experience in pre and post award research administration or equivalent combination of education and experience required

Successful candidate must be highly motivated, attentive to details, ability to work in a team setting, multi-task with a strong work ethic. Ability to work under pressure of deadlines, be flexible and contribute positively to a dynamic business environment. Experience in University research and financial systems, including Business Objects/Data Warehouse, PennERA, Workday, Payroll Reallocation, RIA, RIS, BEN Financials strongly preferred.
