Purchasing/Procurement Specialist

Erwin, TN

Job Description:  

This is a position to support purchasing for an entire construction tam and multiple projects. The successful candidate will initiate, track, and complete purchase orders, handle domestic and international shipments, and work with multiple suppliers to secure contracts.

Location: Onsite Erwin, TN

 Job Highlights: 

• Determine the goods, services, and materials required for construction projects.


• Collaborate with project teams to understand their purchasing needs.


• Develop and implement procurement strategies and policies.


• Craft negotiation strategies and close deals with optimal terms.


• Create tracking system and reports for each order/project.


• Negotiate with suppliers to secure advantageous terms.


• Manage relationships with key suppliers to maintain quality, timely delivery, and contract compliance.


• Track and report key functional metrics to reduce expenses and improve effectiveness.


• Oversee the delivery of purchased goods to ensure timely and accurate delivery.


• Resolve any issues related to supplies and suppliers.


• Receipt, inspect, and document all orders.


• Ensure adherence to safety, quality, and compliance regulations.

Skills/Qualifications:

• Candidates should have 3+ years of experience in procurement, specific to the construction industry.


• Familiarity with sourcing and procurement techniques is essential.


• Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.


• Strong communication skills to collaborate with stakeholders and suppliers.


• Ability to manage budgets effectively.


• Intermediate level skills with MS Excel but familiarity with MS Access.


• The highest standards in accuracy and efficiency with all activities is critical to success on this position.


• Ability to effectively convey information both verbally and in written correspondence.


• Ability to adjust actions in relation to customer and vendor needs.


• Must possess a proven record of strong organizational skills and be very detail oriented.

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. This job is performed in a generally clean and healthy environment. The job requires occasionally remaining on one's feet in an upright position without moving for long periods of time, occasionally moving about on foot for long periods of time, remaining in a seated position for long periods of time, and/or climbing stairs, stepladders, extension ladders and scaffolding ladders. The job also requires the ability to raise or lower an object of approximately 5-50 pounds from one level to another, the ability to transport an object of up to 50 pounds a distance of up to 10 yards, usually holding it in the hands or arms, or on the shoulder, the ability to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, 20 pounds of force frequently and a negligible amount of force constantly so that an object moves away from the force, and/or the ability to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, 20 pounds of force frequently and a negligible amount of force constantly so that an object moves toward the force.

Must be capable of operating a standard 1/2-ton pick-up for occasional delivery and pick-up of materials and personnel and hold a valid, unrestricted motor vehicle operator's license issued by the state of residence, and the manual dexterity necessary to operate a standard desktop computer keyboard.
