Job Summary:
The Director of IT is responsible for implementing and maintaining the Organizations technology infrastructure, by way of monitoring operational requirements; researching strategies and technology solutions; and building the most cost-effective and efficient system, developing, and maintaining computer systems and software applications. Provide technical support to end-users and troubleshoot any issues that may arise.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Under general direction, the Director of IT plans, organizes, directs, coordinates and manages the activities and operations of the Information Technology Department and oversees system design, computer programming and computer operations of the Organizations central computer system, including the telecommunications system, database management, GIS, networks and systems, applications development, security and back-up, programming and technology development, hardware and software.

Analyze user requirements, develop software solutions, and implement new technologies to improve efficiency and productivityEnsure the security of data and systems, as well as maintain documentation for future referenceMay be required to train end-users on new software applications and provide technical support as needed Responsible for ensuring that Sun Test Systems meets, achieves and maintains CMMC certification, including compliance with NIST SP 800-171Oversees the implementation and maintenance of the Organizations Information Technology Strategic PlanTakes an active role in the development and meeting of planning strategies and Organizational priorities. Recommends information technology strategies, policies, and procedures by evaluating organizational outcomes, identifying problems, evaluating trends, and anticipating requirementsSupports corporate initiatives through the incorporation of information and communication technologies to enhance the quality and performance of community service delivery and connectivityProvides leadership for IT Division staff and resources, by the establishment of clear and achievable goalsManages IT staff by recruiting, training, and coaching employees, communicating job expectations, and appraising their performanceDevelops, communicates, and enforces IT policies and procedures and prepares records necessary to safeguard information and technological assetsVerifies application results by conducting system audits of technologies implementedMakes technological decisions and/or recommendations regarding advanced tools, platforms, etc. of an innovative natureAccomplishes financial objectives by forecasting requirements, preparing an annual budget, scheduling expenditures, analyzing variances, and initiating corrective actionDirects the acquisition of computer software, hardware technology, and the negotiation of purchase agreements, service contracts, leases with contractors and vendorsIdentifies new technology and develops systems to support research, project planning, and that which reflects the expressed needs of the Organization and staffMaintains quality service by establishing and implementing organization standardsManages in alignment with Organizational focuses and priorities and user needsEvaluates and reports upon the information technology systems needs of the organizationCompletes projects by coordinating resources and timetables with user departments and staffDirects, oversees, plans, and participates in the development of detailed project plans for departmental/enterprise IT project implementationsConducts and directs thorough research on the implementation of new systems and prepares information for Leadership and Management staff in a clear and concise (non-technical) mannerEnsures security of data, network access and backup systemsBuilds and maintains effective working relationships with other employees and the publicOther duties may be assigned
Required Skills/Abilities:
Must be US CitizenKnowledge of technology and industry best practicesKnowledge of operational characteristics, services, and activities of Information TechnologyGood customer service with principles and practices of technical supportInstallation, troubleshooting, and maintenance of information systems hardware, software and related systemsKnowledge of principles of project organization and planning, employee supervision, training and performance managementStrong understanding of computer systems and software applications, as well as, excellent problem-solving and analytical skillsGood communication skills and be able to work well in a team environmentFamiliarity with programming languages and networking protocols
Education and Experience:
Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in Computer Science, Technology, or Management Information Systems or a closely related fieldFive (5) years of progressively responsible experience with information technology, including two (2) years supervisoryMaster's Degree in Information Technology or related field is desirableEquivalent combination of Education and Experience may be considered for the position
