This position will report directly to our State and Regional leadership team and will be responsible for growing our presence in San Antonio.

Over the past year, RS&H’s San Antonio Transportation team has achieved significant revenue growth serving clients such as the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT), the City of San Antonio, and others in Central Texas. As the Transportation Market Leader in San Antonio, you will lead a highly-experienced team of engineers and specialists who are laser-focused on delivering solutions for a changing transportation environment, promoting sustainability and resilience, and successfully delivering large, complex projects.

Our ideal candidate is comfortable working in a highly flexible, team-oriented environment and has excellent communication, analysis, and documentation skills. We are looking for a resourceful and innovative leader that enjoys working in a collaborative environment.

Your Role & Responsibilities:

  • Autonomy & Leadership: With the support of your fellow employee owners, including company leadership, you will lead the local Transportation team in business development to drive top line sales growth and lead the development and execution of win strategies.
  • Business Development: You’ll leverage your connections and experience to identify project opportunities, lead the development of proposals, and select strong teaming partners to win work. You’ll engage in industry events with the team, promote your collective achievements, and network with prospective clients and other industry professionals.
  • Client & Team Communication: You will maintain strong client relationships as the client relationship manager and point of contact throughout a project’s lifecycle. You will manage all client communications and coordinate with discipline key task leaders, staff, and subconsultants to ensure client satisfaction, quality experiences, and quality outcomes for transportation clients.
  • Team Management & Mentorship: Drawing on your leadership and project experience, you will manage a team of transportation engineers and specialists as they deliver high-performing service and quality deliverables while supporting their continued growth and development. At the appropriate times, lead the delivery of multiple, high-profile design projects that are critical to expanding client relationships and growing our portfolio.

What You Need to Succeed:

  • Business Development Acumen: You have a history of achievement of key area performance metrics, including building awareness of brand and services; building and maintaining relationships in the transportation markets; identification of opportunities that grow the capabilities of the firm and cultivate a vision for how to continually enhance position in the market; and the growth and development of sustained backlog, including participation in achieving sales goals.
  • Project & Team Management: You have project management experience with conventional and/or design-build projects for TxDOT and/or Texas municipal clients.
  • Experience: You bring 15+ years of progressive leadership experience, managing and mentoring large multi-disciplined teams working on complex projects with a construction value of ≥ $20M.
  • Local Expertise: You have project experience in Texas, which has taught you policies and procedures associated with managing transportation design, alternative delivery, and/or general engineering contracts for TxDOT.
  • Client Partnership: You understand your client's goals, provide thoughtful options, advise on challenging decisions, and act as a reliable partner, proactively communicating to address challenges before they arise.
  • Communication Skills: With excellent written and verbal communication skills, you can market yourself and RS&H to potential new clients, staff, and consultant or contractor partners.
  • Professional Engineering License: You are a licensed professional engineer in Texas, holding a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or a similar discipline from an ABET-accredited university.
