Department Summary


The Department of Mechanical Engineering prepares students for a career in the ever-growing fields of construction engineering, energy, and engineering management. Undergraduates who choose to pursue a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering will combine fundamentals of mechanical engineering with broad specialization on subjects related to construction, energy, and engineering management. For graduate students, our programs will offer opportunities to learn fundamental and applied knowledge compatible with all areas of mechanical, construction, and energy engineering. We are seeking adjunct instructors for courses offered in all areas within the department.


UNT has a highly diverse campus with a wide range of languages spoken in addition to English. We welcome candidates who have experience with HSI/MSIs and/or who speak Spanish, Vietnamese, American Sign Language, Chinese (Cantonese, Mandarin and other variations), Arabic, Tagalog, Farsi, French, or/and Yoruba.



Position Overview


This is a position supported by a project funded by the department of energy (DOE) on the multifunctional natural fiber composites for vehicle components. The post-doc associate will assist the PI in managing the project at UNT and complete project goals and objectives. The details of the work includes writing project reports, attending and presenting at the project meetings, developing the peer reviewed publications, and giving presentations at professional conferences. The post-doc will also assist with the PI writing grant proposals and supervising / mentoring graduate and undergraduate students.



Minimum Qualifications


The candidate should have a PhD degree in Mechanical Engineering, Material Science and Engineering, and related areas.



Preferred Qualifications


Research and/or work experience in wood and natural fiber treatment for functional composites



Required License/Registration/Certifications




Job Duties:



  • Assist the PI in managing the funded project at UNT, complete project goals and objectives, write the project reports, attending the project meetings.

  • Developing the peer reviewed publications and give presentations at professional conferences.

  • Assist the PI in developing grant proposals and supervising.
