Project Manager - Transmission & Distribution

Orlando, FL

Contract to hire 6-12 months

Onsite(25% travel)

We are seeking a Project Manager to support a program consisting of small to moderate-sized transmission and substation projects. The Project Manager will oversee all aspects of engineering, permitting, construction, and capitalization for multiple concurrent high-voltage overhead transmission line, substation, and communication equipment improvement projects. Reporting directly to the Lead Project Manager/Program Manager, the role will involve cost management, successful project completion within specified timelines, and maintaining professional relationships with the Owner, subcontractors, regulatory agencies, and other stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage projects from development through construction and closeout, including siting, environmental considerations, permitting, planning, estimating, engineering, right-of-way acquisition, project controls, bid phase services, procurement, constructability reviews, material management, construction management, and project closeout.
  • Maintain effective communication and relationships between project sites, the project office, and clients.
  • Drive project schedules, manage scope, and maintain detailed, accurate project cost forecasts and accruals.
  • Develop and implement project policies, procedures, project control systems, and execution plans.
  • Collaborate closely with the Project Team to ensure deliverables meet client expectations.
  • Provide regular progress reports to the Lead Project Manager on construction, cost, schedule, procurement, safety, environmental concerns, and any support needed.

Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management, or a related field, with a minimum of 7 years of progressive experience. A master's degree may substitute for one year of experience.
  • Proven project management experience, including construction phase execution.
  • Detailed knowledge of substations, networks/telecommunications, or transmission lines.
  • Proficient in project scheduling using Primavera P6.
  • Experience in cost management, change control, and risk management.
  • Ability to coordinate multiple disciplines toward a common goal.
  • Competence in reading and understanding substation construction drawings, one-lines, three-lines, general layouts, and transmission plans.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and teams simultaneously.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Valid driver's license and the ability to meet the company's driving standards.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Strong analytical, reporting, and presentation skills.
  • Advanced contract analysis and evaluation skills.
  • PMP certification.
  • Ability to travel to project sites as needed.
