Job Overview:

Our client in the energy space is looking to bring on a Procurement Director to support their Capital Project programs. The Procurement Director will sit in a business-critical function connecting projects and procurement departments and will work to implement strategic sourcing strategies, support supplier relationships, oversee project inventory management, and ensure compliance.

Responsibilities:
  • Guide and lead the Projects Team, ensuring they receive proper training and share best practices for efficient project-procurement activities.
  • Handle personnel matters, including performance feedback, support, work assignments, and administrative tasks.
  • Foster a positive, open work environment, promoting systematic approaches and disciplined task execution.
  • Communicate and support project managers with sourcing strategies to ensure quality, cost savings, and timely delivery of materials and services.
  • Stay informed about market conditions and trends that could impact the company's growth and maintenance initiatives.
  • Assess departmental processes and performance, addressing any issues or concerns.
  • Regularly update Management on departmental projects, goals, and objectives.
  • Set and monitor performance requirements and goals, ensuring teams meet expectations and compliance guidelines.
  • Work with Internal Audit to ensure compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Support sourcing strategies with suppliers to foster relationships and optimize their performance.
  • Maintain and utilize standard terms, conditions, and contract templates, incorporating legal, risk, and contractor assessments.
  • Assist with complex negotiations or provide guidance on agreements and supplier relationships to protect the company's interests.
  • Oversee physical inventory management, including purchasing, auditing, and policy compliance.
  • Manage the identification, valuation, and disposition of surplus materials, ensuring proper authorization and accounting.
  • Promote procurement participation in project status meetings with Project Management, Engineering, and Operations.
  • Collaborate on developing and maintaining Engineering Standards and the Approved Manufacturer List (AML).
  • Develop and maintain departmental information management processes and sites, ensuring continuous improvement.
  • Oversee key technology systems used by the Procurement and Projects departments.
  • Implement the Oracle Projects Module to standardize project administration and ensure adoption by project managers.
  • Drive digital transformation within the procurement department by adopting new technologies to enhance efficiency.
  • Ensure all stakeholders, particularly the procurement team, have clear visibility into project procurement plans, including materials, services, budgets, and timelines.
  • Report to stakeholders and manage capital-projects spending effectively.
  • Oversee the expeditors team to ensure timely fulfillment of project-related needs.
  • Lead the rollout and enforcement of procurement-project processes, ensuring project managers adhere to established procedures.
  • Provide guidance and support to requisitioners for project materials and services, ensuring compliance with organizational guidelines.
  • Maintain consistent attendance and high performance.
  • Be ready to work non-traditional hours as required.
  • Build and sustain positive relationships with internal and external customers.
  • Prioritize personal safety, company assets, employee safety, and public safety.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Engineering, or a related discipline, or appropriate work experience
  • A minimum of 10 years direct work experience in Projects Management and Procurement
  • Past experience working on projects from a procurement, project controls, and/or project management perspective
  • Preference toward candidates from midstream energy or related industries
  • Must have familiarity with related commodities such as PVF, compression, and instrumentation/measurement equipment.
  • Must have familiarity with project management software such as MS Project, Primavera, Oracle PM
  • Expertise in budget management, risk management, and resource allocation in project environments
  • Strong customer service characteristics (positive attitude, sense of urgency, go-getter)
