We are seeking a skilled Laser Application Engineer that uses the application of mechanical and laser optics engineering principles to provide effective, economical, and timely solutions for product and process development in the field of laser welding, laser cladding, laser marking and metal deposition. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure the successful implementation of laser related projects, with your main focus being but not limited to developing tools, implementing designs, integrating machinery or equipment, and computer-integrated technologies to define the product development direction.

Develop processes for prototype laser welding and cladding projects.
Develop manufacturing processes by studying product requirements, and researching, designing and modifying equipment.
Confer with planning and design staff concerning product design and tooling to ensure efficient production methods.
Develop jigs and fixtures and research tooling needs for efficient manufacturing and machining.
Establish procedures to guide production and cladding personnel related to specification restrictions, material processes, pre- and post-clad heating requirements which involve the use of complex alloys.
Assure product and process quality by designing testing methods; testing finished product and process capabilities; establishing standards; confirming manufacturing processes.
Monitor manufacturing processes to identify ways to improve efficiency and quality and to reduce losses, which may include analyzing and planning workflow, space requirements, and equipment layout.
May be required to learn to set up, program, and operate production equipment as necessary.
Maintain open communication with sales/internal customers regarding required product performance and specifications needed to meet customers' expectations.
To be successful as a Laser Application Engineer with ALSPI, you:
Demonstrate experience with Microsoft Office products, especially Excel, Word, Teams, and Projects, to manage a project.
Should have sufficient experience with CAD/CAM Design software to work independently on assigned projects, as needed.
Demonstrate knowledge of ANSI, NFPA 79, and Automotive design standards.
Demonstrate knowledge of AWS codes and Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code-ASME Section IX.
Demonstrate solid engineering knowledge of machining processes, EDM, laser cutting, forming, and or welding/cladding.
Demonstrate advanced design knowledge of work cell type and functions, including Robotic, index tables, walking beam, conveyor, palletizers, etc.
Demonstrate basic analysis capabilities including structural, and thermal.
