Job Description:

Manage the team, project plans, and resource allocation for a diverse team of business analysts. Be a strong voice guiding the evolution of Wakefern into a data driven, customer focused future. Mold analysts into future leaders.

Meet the demands of management and member for actionable insight. Set the standard for output as learnings in words and visuals, not as numbers in spreadsheet. Oversee future proofing and continuous improvement of the Insight tools. Make analytical talent be an indispensable part of any key meeting.

Teach vendors, staff, and members to interpret, address, and solve complex grocery based challenges. Apply high standards of analytic measurement, design, fact-based decision making to the core business needs. Keep Wakefern strategic goals at the forefront of all conversations. Be active and effective in managing information upward.

Core Functions

The core functions of this position include, but are not limited to, the following:
  • Facilitate the flow of day-to-day scheduled and adhoc analytical needs for the organization across multiple teams.
  • This role focuses primarily on Customer and Market focused insights.
  • Managed functional areas include: Categorical/Department Insights, Customer Insights, and Strategic/Corporate Initiatives.
  • Show a key passion for data and willingness to research tough open-ended questions. Be persuasive with collected insights.
  • Will need to persuade and/or present to management, storeowners, external contacts.
  • Utilize a range of data systems to prepare complex, accurate insights into Grocery industry data. If needed report/system is not available, be able to find a solution.
  • Develop and motivate a diverse team of skilled analysts.
  • Work with and lead team members within cross divisional/functional teams to address core issues.
  • Contribute deeply to the corporate knowledge base.
  • Develop and validate system enhancements and reports to increase value and relevancy of our customer insight tools.
  • Succeed while managing multiple tasks with tight deadlines.

Knowledge and Skill Requirements:
  • Four Year bachelor's degree required, advanced degree preferred
  • Six+ years business experience in an office environment in an analytical capacity
  • Previous managerial/mentorship experience with small/medium teams
  • Demonstrated mathematical/statistical/economic aptitude
  • Experience with grocery/retail data or trends
  • Organized, detail oriented, excellent research skills, motivated problem solver
  • Able to collect and interpret detail data to reach accurate, fact based solutions
  • Able to effectively present and conduct meetings with senior leadership
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Effective time management; maximizes productivity
  • Outstanding Excel skills
  • Able and willing to self-learn new systems
  • Required application experience: Price Plus Insights/dunnhumby Shop, MicroStrategy, Cognos, Nielsen/IRI Circana, Numerator/Panel Data).
  • Basic skills Tableau, Microstrategy Library, or similar data visualization tools, is a plus
  • Basic skills in writing SQL Code, is a plus

Working Conditions & Physical Demands
  • Ability to monitor computer screens for long periods of time
  • Ability to work a hybrid schedule, with a current requirement of 4 days in person, as established by the division
