Description

Primus Aerospace is a leading manufacturing partner to aerospace, defense, and space OEMs, Primes, and Tier I suppliers. The company specializes in producing high-tolerance, complex geometry parts machined using standard and exotic metals. Primus works directly with all major aerospace manufacturers (e.g., Boeing, Lockheed Martin, Northrop Grumman) to provide components for mission-critical civilian and defense programs.

The Manufacturing Process Engineer investigates, documents, develops, and implements manufacturing processes and improvements. Drives manufacturing efficiency, process improvement, and takes pride in moving the company and its products forward.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide the creation of Routers and Work Orders for new products.
  • Assist CNC, Programming and Quality Departments to identify areas for improvements in procedure, efficiency, risk exposure, and root cause analysis.
  • Lead business case for CapEx purchases of new software, equipment, and tooling.
  • Support manufacturing, and quality teams to deliver hardware on time to customers.
  • Work with suppliers to address concerns regarding internal and external process control, quality issues, delivery risk and price sensitivity.
  • Provide design feedback to customer engineering teams regarding print discrepancies, manufacturability and cost savings
  • Working knowledge of CNC production equipment.

Requirements
  • US Citizen with ability to obtain a clearance (ITAR)
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering field, or related degree, with 3 years of manufacturing experience OR 7+ years of experience in an aerospace manufacturing environment with progressive roles.
  • 2+ years engineering experience in CNC machining, creation of job routers for CNC machining and assembly, cycle time reduction, and job estimating including product realization to the estimation targets required.
  • Experience with DFM and NPI preferred.
  • Excellent analytical skills using Six Sigma and Lean Principles
  • Knowledge of quality assurance and control principles and practices
  • Proficient with Project and Excel (e.g. Pivot Tables)
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong problem solving and decision-making skills.
  • Strong foundation in reading and understanding mechanical drawings with GD&T
