As part of the Program Management Office, you will play a critical role in ensuring the effective management of risks across large, complex defense contracts. This high-profile initiative supports the strategic goals of the U.S. military, helping to optimize readiness and operational capabilities.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop and implement a Task Order-level Risk Management Plan (RMP) in close coordination with the Program Manager to mitigate risks and seize opportunities for program improvement.
Collaborate with the Quality Management Lead to establish escalation thresholds and resolution processes for issues, problems, and risks within the program framework.
Coordinate with leadership across program management, business operations, and field operations to gain a comprehensive view of potential risks and execute corrective actions when needed.
Maintain the Task Order risk register and opportunity matrix, providing continuous updates on the evolving risk landscape.
Conduct thorough risk assessments using both quantitative and qualitative methodologies to identify risks that may have a Task Order-wide impact.
Develop and prioritize actionable strategies to mitigate, reduce, or transfer risks while ensuring alignment with the mission.
Regularly update Risk & Operational Management (R&OM) policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with evolving risks, opportunities, and regulatory requirements.
Educate and train staff on risk and opportunity awareness, as well as on the specific strategies outlined in the R&OM policies.
Monitor the effectiveness of risk management strategies and adjust as necessary to enhance program success.
Present reports on risk and opportunity management to senior leadership and participate in the R&O Review Board to ensure program-wide alignment and accountability.
Required Experience:
At least 10 years with a BA/BS, 5 years with an MA/MS, or 14 years of related experience with no degree.
Proven track record in developing and implementing Risk Management Plans (RMPs) at the Task Order level, particularly for large defense contracts.
Expertise in coordinating with program leadership and Quality Management Leads to mitigate risks and resolve issues, with a focus on understanding the full risk landscape.
Experience in conducting quantitative and qualitative risk assessments, with the ability to evaluate severity and likelihood of risks that impact program-wide performance.
Knowledge of how to maintain risk registers and opportunity matrices, while developing strategies to minimize risk exposure.
Experience in educating teams on risk awareness and risk mitigation strategies.
Must have an active DoD Secret Clearance.
