Job Description:

The Assistant Project Manager will support the Project Manager in overseeing the planning, execution, and completion of ground-up commercial construction projects. This role involves assisting with project coordination, budget management, and communication with stakeholders to ensure successful project delivery.

  • You have an IT background
  • You do not have commercial construction experience
  • You have not worked as a Project Manager or in the construction industry
  • You require sponsorship

Key Responsibilities:

Project Coordination:
  • Assist the Project Manager in developing and maintaining project schedules, budgets, and work plans.
  • Coordinate with subcontractors, suppliers, and vendors to facilitate project activities.

Documentation Management:
  • Prepare, maintain, and organize project documentation, including contracts, change orders, and meeting minutes.
  • Ensure all documentation is accurate and up to date.

Communication:
  • Act as a point of contact for project stakeholders, including clients, subcontractors, and team members.
  • Assist in the preparation of project reports and presentations for management and clients.

Site Visits and Inspections:
  • Participate in site visits and inspections to monitor progress and ensure compliance with project specifications and safety standards.
  • Identify potential issues and communicate them to the Project Manager.

Budget and Cost Tracking:
  • Assist in tracking project expenses and monitoring budget adherence.
  • Help prepare cost estimates and manage change orders as needed.

Risk Management:
  • Support the Project Manager in identifying potential risks and developing mitigation strategies.
  • Ensure compliance with safety protocols and assist in addressing safety concerns on-site.

Quality Assurance:
  • Help ensure that all work meets quality standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Participate in quality control processes and inspections.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field (preferred).
  • 2+ years of experience in commercial construction or project management (internships or co-op experience included).
  • Basic knowledge of construction methods, materials, and regulations.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in project management software (e.g., MS Project, Procore) and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
