Position: General Manager
Position Summary:
The General Manager is responsible for providing leadership and guidance to plant operations, including manufacturing, logistics, maintenance, engineering, material control, purchasing, quality assurance, and tooling areas. This role focuses on improving overall costs, quality, and on-time delivery, ensuring efficient production that exceeds customer expectations. The General Manager oversees plant and business operations, emphasizing safety, environmental compliance, labor control, equipment management, and customer relations.
Essential Job Functions:
Lead, plan, and manage all manufacturing activities, including logistics, material control, and quality assurance, to ensure safety, quality, and customer satisfaction.
Direct strategic planning and tactical execution across all plant operations.
Implement and standardize Total Quality Production System (TQPS) techniques to improve processes and eliminate waste.
Oversee feasibility studies for product compatibility with the plant's capacity and investment plans.
Develop Lean activities and continuous improvement systems for manufacturing.
Review product launches and engineering changes, ensuring successful implementation.
Plan and organize layout changes based on volume adjustments.
Liaise with department managers and external stakeholders to resolve issues and drive process improvements.
Ensure customer requirements are met with high-quality production.
Conduct daily reviews of the production floor and staff meetings to communicate goals, successes, and challenges.
Operational Responsibilities:
Ensure compliance with plant policies and procedures, including safety, environmental, and transportation regulations.
Lead the development and management of the plant's annual business plan, budget, and key performance measures.
Manage staffing plans, equipment efficiency, and financial performance to align with corporate goals.
Regularly review production goals and financial reports, identifying areas for cost reduction and process improvement.
Maintain positive customer relations, conducting plant tours and meetings with local industry groups.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Supervise department managers and employees, ensuring alignment with company policies.
Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, training, performance appraisal, and addressing employee issues.
Qualification Requirements:
Education and Experience:
Bachelor's Degree in business, engineering, operations management, supply chain, or related field.
10-15 years of functional leadership in a manufacturing environment.
Experience in engineering management and applying Lean and TQPS principles.
Proficiency in ERP/MRP systems and integrated computer programs.
Computer Skills:
Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Project, PowerPoint).
Certifications:
Lean Six Sigma certification preferred.
