Monthly Shadowing (Paid Guest Teacher)- CAPS STEMHeroes program
College Achieve Public Schools is seeking college seniors or STEM graduates who are interested in gaining experience in the teaching profession with a once per month shadowing opportunity at the pay rate of $200 per day. Selected candidates will have the opportunity to learn about the teaching profession by spending time in a CAPS classrooms. The candidates will also have the opportunity to be paid as substitute teachers. This experience could lead to a contract offer for a full time teaching position and the sponsorship of alternative route certification for qualified candidates. This opportunity is available at all CAPS locations: Asbury Park, Neptune, North Plainfield, Plainfield, and Paterson.
The ideal candidate would meet the following criteria:
Be enrolled full time as a senior in an accredited four year college or university or graduated from a four year university with a STEM degree
Be majoring in a STEM field or education with a specialization in a STEM subject (if the applicant is a college student)
Have or had at least a 2.75 GPA
Possess or be willing to obtain substitute teaching certification
Possess a passion for and positive attitude about children
Be highly motivated and eager to learn
