Job Description:

Job Summary: This remote position is responsible for developing and reviewing engineered pipeline construction drawings. The engineer will collaborate closely with drafters, designers, and management to execute project design work, including designing natural gas pipelines and facilities, creating construction drawings, reviewing designs, completing calculations, and generating Bills of Material (BOM). The engineer must understand processes and technical design requirements to ensure that all drawings meet company and client specifications and standards.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Apply sound engineering knowledge of natural gas utility engineering principles and practices with guidance from senior engineers and managers.
  • Perform a variety of engineering calculations and tasks to assist in producing plans, specifications, permits, and other engineering documents.
  • Conduct quality assurance audits to ensure all designs comply with prescribed processes, specifications, and quality requirements.
  • Communicate effectively with drafters and designers regarding design markups and standards.
  • Maintain clear communication with the Project Manager regarding questions, allowable hours, timelines, and any anticipated project delays.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science (BS) in Engineering from an ABET-accredited institution.
  • Eligibility to sit for the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) and Professional Engineer (PE) exams.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in natural gas pipeline and facilities design.
  • Ability to read, interpret, and apply regulatory and industry codes and standards.
  • Strong technical skills, including the ability to perform engineering calculations for pipe and equipment specifications.
  • Strong work ethic, attention to detail, self-driven, and a commitment to a production-oriented environment.
  • Ability and desire to communicate and collaborate effectively in a remote setting.
  • Consistent work habits and a strong sense of accountability for producing quality work on time.
  • Unquestioned business and personal integrity.
  • Impeccable communication skills, organizational abilities, and a high sense of urgency.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team, demonstrating an entrepreneurial spirit.

Preferred Skills/Experience:

  • Experience in natural gas pipeline, meter & regulator station, and gas storage design and/or operations.
  • Understanding of electrical, instrumentation, and controls common to the pipeline industry.
  • Knowledge of valves and actuators, including control valve sizing.
  • Familiarity with fluid flow and gas measurement principles.
  • Experience with horsepower and compression systems.
  • Understanding of industrial automation and controls.
  • Prior engineering consulting experience.
  • Hands-on experience using AutoCAD, MicroStation, 3D CAD, and CADWorx software.
  • Experience with RNG, Biogas, and/or Hydrogen design.
