Your Role
ATFI is seeking an experienced Materials Engineer to serve as part of our technical staff to perform work related to high temperature coatings and composites. In this role, the primary job responsibilities include supporting technical activities for various customer and internal projects related to high performance surface engineered materials and other specialty products for aerospace, defense, energy, and other industrial sectors. Specific responsibilities may include, but not limited to: • Technical responsibility for new product innovation • Working as part of a team for comprehensive materials characterization • Technical report/proposal writing, process documentation, & technical presentations • Engineering design, modeling, and analysis • Mentoring junior staff members • Supervision of subordinate engineers & technicians • Leading (PI) on government and other customer projects
Preferred Qualifications and Experience • Doctorate in Materials Science or similar • 5+ years of industrial/post-doctoral experience in materials engineering • Experience in materials for extreme environments • Experience in materials design & synthesis • Experience in structure-property relationships in ceramics a plus • Experience in surface science a plus
