Your role involves overseeing and actively contributing to the design engineering team, supporting customers in the North American region and nine operations facilities.
Essential Responsibilities:
Provide technical leadership for the design engineering team.
Review and approve work completed by the engineering team according to HOERBIGER's approval matrix.
Coordinate the design work, communicate project timelines to the HSI team, and ensure timely completion.
Drive improvements in engineering processes and actively assist in their implementation.
Author technical reports, documenting recommendations and observations.
Manage individual and team projects, including product design, drawing verification, and release.
Reverse engineering of legacy components for compressor repairs.
Provide support to the shop with repair specifications.
Influence and advise Account Managers, Customer Service, and customers.
Contribute to the development of solutions and proposals.
Take a proactive role in resolving technical problems, ensuring effective communication and stakeholder understanding.
Qualifications
Experience/Education
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering and/or Design; and 8+ years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience in the compression industry.
Experience coaching/leading a team of professional engineers preferred. Ability to create and deliver training programs to ensure team members are well-versed in updated processes and technologies.
Proven experience in driving and implementing process improvements, adopting new technologies and tools to enhance design and engineering workflows.
Strong understanding of project management principles to ensure effective coordination and execution of process improvement initiatives.
Technical Knowledge
Proficient in CAD model and drawing creation using Autodesk Inventor for CNC and manual machining processes.
Strong understanding of the application of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing, focusing primarily on precision machined parts.
Knowledge of capital compressor components such as cylinders, liners, crossheads, cylinder heads, crankshafts, and auxiliary systems.
Familiarity with the repair scope, applicable standards, and procedures of capital parts.
Experience with ERP systems for managing individual component data, raw materials, revisions, and Bills of Material (SAP or similar).
Proficiency in computer applications for technical problem-solving, word processing, and creation of technical presentations (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, MathCAD).
Proficiency with a variety of precision measurement tools for gathering dimensions from existing parts.
Experience with Finite Element Analysis (FEA) is highly preferred
