Overview: We are seeking a high-performing Business Development Lead focused on the National Institutes of Health (NIH) with a strong network and proven relationship-building skills to help achieve the organization's long-term business goals. The responsibilities for this role include, but are not limited to:
Responsibilities:
Collaborate with internal teams and technical Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to generate ideas and pursue strategic relationships with potential NIH customers, existing clients, and partners.
Develop, analyze, and implement marketing and business development strategies, adjusting tactics to increase effectiveness as needed.
Lead business development and capture activities, creating collateral and presentations alongside technical teams to support proposal efforts and client positioning.
Identify, qualify, and support the capture and closure of business opportunities in collaboration with business and capture teams.
Build and maintain a pipeline of opportunities, engage with new customers, and foster ongoing projects through direct and indirect customer interactions.
Identify opportunities for cross-selling to existing customers and develop new business avenues.
Lead account communications and processes effectively, while playing a leadership role in key pursuits and oversight during proposal development.
Serve as a Subject Matter Expert at industry events, conferences, and other professional gatherings, articulating the organization's unique capabilities.
Qualifications:
Extensive knowledge and experience in federal contracting within the health industry and proven expertise in business development.
Strong team player who can drive business development strategies in collaboration with technical teams.
Exceptional influencing and negotiating skills.
Proven ability to lead the development of new business opportunities, oversee capture activities, and contribute to proposals, marketing efforts, and pricing strategies.
Established network of clients or contacts within the market.
Understanding of competitive landscapes and proven experience in building competitive teams.
Experience in driving call plans and value propositions.
Familiarity with Agile, DevSecOps, and Digital Transformation solutions.
Proactive, with a positive and confident approach, and a strong sense of commitment and perseverance.
Excellent communication and client service skills, with the ability to deliver compelling presentations.
Knowledge of TechnoMile is a plus.
Must be based in the DC Metro area and willing to travel for conferences, industry events, and client meetings.
Education and Work Experience:
Bachelor's degree or equivalent with 12+ years of progressive leadership experience in business development. MBA preferred.
10+ years of direct work experience with a deep understanding of NIH operations and contracting processes.
Salary: Competitive salary of up to $160,000 based on qualifications.
