Job Title: Project Manager (Contract - Custom Automation Projects)

Contract Duration: Until April 2025

Overview:

We are seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead the successful execution of custom automated machine builds. In this high-paced role, you will manage all aspects of project leadership, from design through delivery, working closely with cross-functional teams and demanding customers. This contract position is budgeted until April 2025, which is ideal for someone with a strong technical background in mechanical or electrical engineering and extensive experience managing automation or integrated mechanical projects.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead the project team through the entire project life cycle, managing scope, schedule, cost, quality, open issues, risks, resources, and communications.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for the customer, building relationships, understanding their business, and delivering on their expectations.
  • Oversee engineering, design reviews, procurement, build, debug, FAT (Factory Acceptance Test), shipping, SAT (Site Acceptance Test), and warranty work (when applicable).
  • Ensure all project documentation, technical performance, budgets, production schedules, and quality deliverables meet established requirements and ISO standards.
  • Track project budgets, manage costs, and present engineering changes to customers.
  • Identify and mitigate risks proactively, ensuring project milestones are achieved within aggressive timelines.
  • Drive continuous improvement by sharing best practices and lessons learned with the team.

Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field or 5+ years of project management experience.
  • PMP certification is highly preferred.
  • Experience managing cross-functional teams on automation or integrated mechanical projects, with a proven track record of commercial management.
  • Strong technical aptitude in mechanical or electrical engineering.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Excel and MS Project.
  • Experience managing projects with budgets exceeding $1M.
