The User Experience Engineer I possesses the technical skillset of a Front End Software Engineer with the working knowledge of user experience and graphic design principles. This position shapes how users interact with and experience software applications using a mix of technical ability, aesthetic sensibility, empathy, and attention to detail to deliver intuitive user experiences.
Job Description
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Design and implement web front-end user interfaces and functionality utilizing current technologies including HTML5, CSS3, MVC, SASS, LESS, BEM, jQuery, JavaScript and Responsive Design, and Component Architecture Design.
Learn and apply graphic design skills to create style guides, ensuring consistency in presentation and a pleasing and relevant aesthetic.
Participate in concept development, design ideation, creation of user-centered design solutions, and usability testing in support of strategic business objectives and roadmap.
Translate mock-ups into responsive user interfaces by preparing scaffolding, script frameworks, and UI frameworks for front end engineering.
Proactively communicate effective updates to team members about technical work.
Learn and apply Design System standards to establish and maintain a reusable Component Architecture of UI components, script libraries, responsive frameworks, and mix-ins.
Ensure the accessibility compliance of all software applications.
Develop specialized knowledge within one or more areas of the front end domain as well as FVTC organizational functions in order to efficiently solve technical obstacles.
Apply Agile software development concepts in a team environment to continuously deliver high-value software to stakeholders.
Collaborate with team members to establish UX engineering standards and procedures.
Assume accountability for individual contributions and seek opportunities to enhance contributions.
SECONDARY JOB FUNCTIONS
Research new and emerging technologies to ensure a modern engineering stack.
Monitor software for bugs and other deficiencies and resolve priority issues.
Participate in front end and back end software engineering efforts as needed.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED
Administrative and functional supervision is received from the Systems Analysis and Software Engineering Manager.
QUALIFICATIONS, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology required with an emphasis on web and software engineering, AND
1-3 years of professional experience in a User Experience Engineer role, or equivalent role, AND
Intermediate skills with UI and UX design, semantic and accessible HTML, Accessibility Standards, Responsive Design, CSS, SASS, JavaScript, jQuery, AND
Intermediate skills with ASP .NET, .NET Core, MVC, C#, Visual Studio, IIS, AND
Professional experience with distributed and centralized source control systems, AND
Identifying and/or working toward a technical certification.

Additional Information
Pay Rate: $30.72 per hour.
Pay is based on a multitude of factors, including experience, qualifications, education, relevant certifications, internal equity, and market data. Note: Internal applicants' wage will be based upon the applicable compensation guidelines.
