Ideal Candidate
We are looking for a mission-driven candidate tobuild our team and own the end-to-end success of this disruptive start-up. They will be making strategic decisions and setting the overall direction of the business and will be working cross-functionally with the broader Cincinnati Children's organization. They should have entrepreneurial experience and a proven track record in start-up leadership within a fast-growing company. This individual will bring together a cross-disciplinary team to successfully build the MVP, prepare for market launch, and execute commercialization.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Venture Strategy - Set the vision for the company and define the overall strategy from launch to scale, including long-term goals within and outside of the context of Cincinnati Children's Venture Strategy. Drive growth, profitability, and company value, develop and implement scalable and efficient strategies to ensure both consistent results and exponential growth. Regularly report updates to Board of Directors and corporate stakeholders regarding progress on strategic priorities, and collaborate with Board of Directors to accelerate progress.
Marketing and Communications - Serve as chief external spokesperson and public champion for the business. Establish credibility throughout the customer and partner network by authentic engagement to galvanize company to create & drive solutions to core business challenges. Define marketing objectives and strategies, and guide translation of strategies into tactical plans. Develop strategies that focus on key audiences. Develop metrics that demonstrate and provide tangible evidence of achievement of goals, including market research, internal measures and other means of quantifying results. Leverage appropriate communication channels such as advertising, public relations, media relations, web, collateral materials, and other vehicles that serve to convey messages to a specific audience. Collaborate with CCHMC leadership to identify opportunities for appropriate strategic marketing programs. Assure that marketing and funding strategies are integrated and aligned with the marketing and communications program.
People Leadership - Attract, retain & develop world-class talent, including making recruitment decisions of full leadership team. Ensure that a diverse team of qualified and competent persons are available to accomplish the goals, strategies and tactics. Cultivate a high-performing, agile, mission-driven, one-team culture.
Operational Leadership - Lead day-to-day operations. Proactively mitigate business, operational & governance risks. Provide expert guidance to all functional areas, including operations, sales & product. Surface learnings from operations to be utilized for other Cincinnati Children's ventures. Ensure clear scope and integration points with other CCHMC leaders and departments.
Financial Leadership - Own the operational budget and manage burn rate while growing and improving the business. Manage competition and threats in the marketplace, with constant evaluation of financial structure, capital strategy, & strategic priorities. Deliver new sources of revenue by strengthening B2B partnerships (e.g., childcare centers, NICUs) and unlocking the B2C offering.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's Degree or equivalent combination of education or experience
P&L responsibilities at CEO level or head of significant BU
Start-up leadership experience (5+ years; prefer fast-growing company with funding and 50+ employees)
Consistent track record of building successful products and high caliber teams from the ground up, ideally in current roles
Founder experience in healthcare and/or tech-forward startups is a plus
Experience leading Board of Directors and corporate partners to keep regular updates on business performance and progress
