The Financial Analyst is a key player in the day-to-day operations of the CPM Finance Team, responsible for a wide range of accounting and financial support tasks. The Financial Analyst will primarily focus on reconciling project accounts, preparing journal entries, and assisting with payroll functions to ensure accurate and efficient financial operations.


 Key Responsibilities:



  • Monitor financial and budgetary systems for the CPM to ensure proper allocation of expenditures and compliance with applicable regulations.

  • Balance assigned accounts and prepares monthly financial reconciliations.

  • Monitor accounts, compile statistical data, and maintain accurate reports and record as needed.

  • Assists with development and modifications to accounting systems necessary to ensure sound practices are followed for disbursement of university/sponsored program funds.

  • Assists in the preparation and administration of the annual project budgets and preparing follow-up reports as requested throughout the year.

  • Ensure proper recording of financial transactions in CPM databases, journals, and spreadsheets.

  • Serve as a backup for payroll functions, including monitoring funding changes and personnel appointments, ensuring smooth operations in the absence of primary payroll staff.

  • Serves as support to accounts payable staff during high volume periods.

  • Coordinates with University administration offices regarding financial practices within the college/department.to resolve financial or account-related issues.

  • Participate in meetings as required, including CPM Finance and CPM Support Services meetings.

  • Uphold and promote the mission and values of the University and the CPM in all work activities.

  • Perform additional duties as necessary to support the department’s goals and operations.


 

Required Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or related field, AND: 



  • 24 months financial, budgeting or accounting experience.


Equivalency Substitution: Will accept 48 months of related experience in lieu of the Bachelor's degree for a total of 72 months of related experience.


Skills:



  • Advanced Excel skills with the ability to build and manipulate spreadsheets

  • Financial or accounting experience to include analysis, auditing and budgeting

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office

  • Detail oriented for accuracy of data and information

  • Highly organized and able to handle multiple projects and deadlines

  • Ability to communicate verbally and in writing

  • Ability to build rapport quickly with others

  • General office skills

  • Ability to produce reports and complete work within deadlines

  • Strong initiative to solve problems in a timely manner
